And as I said, because Whedon lacks one doesn't mean he's a crock of shit. He puts his eggs into one basket, and it garners a lot of fans that don't fully understand film. I know I don't and have a lot to learn, but I recognize his flaws and don't mind because it's not what I go to the cinema to see.

But I'm not hating on anyone for liking Whedon -- I certainly like things that aren't very good critically speaking -- just pointing out that he's awarded a disproportionate amount of artistic credibility and excellence from his (very loud and very ardent) fanbase.

Firefly was good. Angel was pretty good. Buffy was mostly shit. Whedon is okay. Not a genius. But okay nonetheless.

Yea that's how I feel^^^
don't care about much that was being discussed in the last 3 pages. I haven't watched any Whedon show. Doesn't interest me.

Changing subject: Strats for Doom...

I have some Gibson style guitars but still dig Fenders for a lot of reasons (comfort, playability, a different tone). This is my '91 in drop A. Minor mods to the bridge, replaced pickguard and the nut over the years. I also have another tortoise pickguard loaded with two PAF style humbuckers and a 3-way switch. Every year or so I'll switch the pickups out while I'm cleaning it or re-stringing it. The body is ash as far as I know, all I know for sure is that the guitar weighs a lot considering the amount of wood that is routed out for the pickups, controls and vibrato.
The tone control for the bridge and middle pickup is interesting, it acts normal up to a center detent at 5 and then above there it adds some kind of a passive mid boost. Not sure how this works or what it's doing exactly. Need to do some research or look at it closer next time I swap out the pickguards.
This was the second guitar I ever bought and it has a tiny but deep little dent on the top of the body from the first week I owned it. I was sitting in the kitchen drinking coffee and practicing scales and I got up to answer the front door and bashed it on the back of a wooden chair... horrible feeling. I like when a used guitar already has that first dent or two in them so I don't worry about it.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
More info. (not that you asked
)
This is what the body looks like:

A lot of wood missing due to the "swimming pool" route but it does make all pickup configurations possible including H/H/H if you wanted.
This is the tone stack.

Seems to be a normal treble cut one way and a bass cut the other way.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
That is a SEXY matching set-up.
I have found a new love for Stratocasters, for any style of music. I learned how to play electric guitar on a Squier Strat, but then I moved to Gibson and Ibanez-style guitars and left Fender alone for a few years. Now I'm back and love them even more. I have a vintage Fender Strat from Mexico that is not technically mine but my Uncle's who sadly died in 2009. He was a hero of mine growing up and meant a great deal to me, so his mother, my grandmother, gave me the guitar to look after until my Uncle's children were old enough to decide what to do with the guitar. I really don't want to give it back. I play it every day now and love it death. I haven't changed the strings in over a year because it just feels so right. It never goes out of tune. It also has a few problems with buzzing and fretting out, but I love the guitar so much that I haven't touched it.

I'm the same way when it comes to Fenders for heavy stuff. It's not so weird because I'm primarily a bass player, but the brighter tones always seem to stick out better to me. Combine that with the ability to take a massive beating and keep working, easily replaceable parts, and general ease of playability and I can't see why I would switch without buying something custom.
