I used to be in a band, which funnily enough was a time when I wasn't that into gear. I just used whatever was available and didn't care too much. Oh how things have changed.

All it takes is one jackass to say something wildly inappropriate and the lady's tend to leave. I've known a couple who surf by proxy though, asking a regular to find something out or whatever. A bit of a shameful reflection of our society but it's also a one bad apple type thing.

Actually, that's true. There could be a lot more women than we know, but something has given them reason to be secretive, which I respect, and they've chosen to remain anonymous. Again, I respect that.

Go spend about 10 minutes browsing a gamer board, then ask yourself why women don't actively participate in male dominated discussion boards more often. That or go look at youtube comments for channels by women. It can get pretty horrendous, for no discernible reason. Violent misogynistic threats seems to be a sport in certain corners of the internet.

Most of the forums I post on are pretty friendly towards women posters, but you can't really blame anyone for being wary. There's certainly a lot of guys I've known who just lurk too, because the threads move so fast.

I wouldn't frequent a forum that wasn't open to everyone, and have left places that weren't, but yeah, I can see why someone would be wary.
