I'm having a custom guitar built in China hahaha

I've always wanted that greco rg550 (rickenbacker 481)
In black with binding etc but they are rare as shit!

So I'm having one built to my specs - with my neck profile and everything I wanted….
FOR $330 shipped via courier in a hardshell case!

Very excited to see how it pans out as they look so badass.

Also had the builder make sure that there was space for p90s ;)

And now the wait begins... I was so nervous when I ordered mine. A week after I got it there was a news story about guitars being seized by the NYC port authority. Hope yours makes it and does not need to much work.
I brought the double to New band practice the other day cause they wanted to see it. The SG ended up breaking a string and I had to use it to finish things out. Sounded great. Amazing what a complete overhaul of hardware and electronics will do for a guit.

Ax, I will admit your story lit my candle of interest!
Lucky i'm not importing into the US - the great part is I had a custom truss rod cover made so I doubt customs will even think twice!

It's funny, my go-to guitar is an SG but I'm really excited about having a rick too.
I bought that fireglo 4003 and it's been really awesome!
I think p90s in the guitar could be very cool if I don't like the existing pickups.
Or another super distortion in the bridge maybe…. shit! OPTIONS.
Aluminium nut as well!

That custom guitar sounds really interesting...id been keen to see the final result. How long do you have to wait?

Also, had a weird dream last night...i was at an ex's house and i found 2 guitars in her bedroom, which she had from her teenage years. They were both Peavey, one was like a sharp wolfgang type shape and the other was kind of like the SG/flying V zakk wylde guitar...but i got really excited when i noticed that they both had aluminium necks with clear plastic binding. Funnily enough the heads stock was all wood as was the body...

So i woke up this morning with a real urge to find an aluminium guitar...

So I've managed to get sick 3 days before our big gig on Saturday. I've been drinking a combination of Codeine infused anti-sinus pills, vitamin-C supplements, and basically coughing up hunks of disgusting slime from my throat for the past 2 days. My guttural vocals are shot to shit, and most of my power and volume is now gone, and I can pretty much forget about doing any high vocals seeing as I start coughing up hunks of slime immediately after. I haven't smoked in 13 hours, and I'm drinking about 3 liters of orange juice and water every day. Anyone have any tips? There is no way I'm missing the show on Saturday.

don't forget a ton of bed rest. But it really sounds it has a grip on you cause all that shit you are taking works best if it's just the start of the cold. if you are hacking up huge balls of slime go to a doc and get a z pack to knock that shit out immediately. after the first day you'll start to feel better. you'll have about 2 and a half in ya by show time. steroids are wonders.

The Vitamin C is good but also get some Zinc supplements.

so...i was made redundant today...which is absolutely brilliant, as i wanted to resign anyway!

but i got some money, and i want to take a little bit and buy myself a present...for about the same price i can either buy a used white Gibson LP Supreme...or get a new Matamp GT1.

the for and againsts...
LP: I already have two guitars and a third is not really needed...but i dont have an LP and love LP's...and i only have black guitars, and this is white.
Matamp: I dont need another amp head as i really like my marshall and i wouldnt sell it any way, so two heads is not really needed now. I would get a matamp before i move back to australia but thats a year away, and a lot can happen between and now and then.

so thoughts??

Speaking as an unemployed person, I'd suggest finding another job before dropping that kind of coin on gear. But maybe you've got that worked out already or are otherwise financially independent- in which case, BUY THEM BOTH!!

I dont want to get both...i've set a cap on how much i want to spend, so really dont want to go all out.
