So I just got back on Sunday after being deployed since April. (96 hour deployment notification/ boots on ground are fucking gay.) I'm so far behind on here that getting back on and posting is a bit overwhelming. Glad to be back. I was greeted by the biggest honey-do-list I've had to date. Luckily for me I get to spend my next two weeks while on leave to work. Practiced with the band yesterday and shit it's done exciting stuff. We ran through a new song they've been working on and I'm looking forward to the near future. We've decided to get in the studio fairly soon and record a four song ep. It's awesome that my guitarist is capable of being self reliant on writing for the most part considering shit like deployments can just "pop" up. We're going to record with the same guy who did the last In The Company of Serpents. I'm blown away by how cheap the guy quoted us. ( 8 hours at $150.) So that's definitely gonna happen. My Dr Scientist Bitquest should get here Monday. Super stoked to fuck around with that one.(Never thought a multi effect could actually be this exciting.) Does anyone in here that purchased one use theirs on bass? Opinion? Other then that it's really just getting back in the swing of things. I'm addicted to searching Craigslist and forums for gear and information about gear. I'm so incredibly susceptible to GAS it hurts my head. If it's not one thing it's another. Aside from the Bitquest, I just ordered one of the Geezer emg p pickups today.( called musician friend and got them to discount it 15%. If there's one top I could give, it's that you should always call and haggle prices for everything. Especially if it's offered from more then one source.)
I've finally gotten through to my wife that I NEED to get out of the army. It's pretty much 98% gonna happen. Only thing that will keep me in is if I can't secure a job pre ETS.(Date I get out, who's is next April.) She gives birth to our second son in August, so there's really no room for uncertainty. I reclassed from Infantry to satellite communications about 4 years ago with the intention of getting out with a marketable skill. I've recently been seeing many SATCOM guys get out with good jobs. Colorado is full SATCOM jobs.(but I'm really going to end up back in Louisiana, but that's a whole other tangent.) There's no reason why I shouldn't be able to. The hard part was convincing my wife of that. I'm at 9 years now, but the security the army gives me is just not worth it. It's a completely different form of stress and bullshit. I just want a normal fucking life. Well shit I'm guessing you guys get my point. This shits just been on my mind non-stop recently.
Well I hope that everyone has had great fortune and happiness since last we talked. I'll be around. It's great to be back.
(I'm not proofreading this, so I'm sure autocorrect has fuct me at least once.)
