We had some false starts in my band at first, the worst being we finally got a stable drummer only for him to quit after our first show in favor of being in a punk/ska band. It was lametarded, but we found our current drummer and things are swinging right now.

BTW, played with Holly Hunt here in Orlando last night. They're so incredible. Their new record is supreme. Go check their tour dates and see them if you can!

Seeing them next week. Pretty stoked about it. Crummy bar show with lots of cheap PBR and ten thousand pounds of riffs. Excite.

I love ska. It's like a kind of quarantine for all the bass players with crappy scooped tone and all the drummers who play piccolo snares and they usually put checkerboard on their posters so it's easy to avoid their gigs.

I've been away for a few days on a little island at the bottom of Australia called Tasmania, where I was seeing Sunn and Earth play at the winter solstice festival, Dark Mofo.
It was fucking insane.
I was at the very front for Sunn with my hands on the stage and it just fucking blew my mind.
Everything was shaking.
It's the most serious display of power imaginable with music.
My throat wouldn't stop resonating at the same frequency and it felt so fucking strange - my whole body was pretty much a vibrator hahaha

I also got an email from the luthier telling me my guitar is ready (cross post from guitar thread):

Currently awaiting for this to arrive…

When it arrives the immediate mods include:
new pots
new switches
new pickups
new caps
new aluminium nut

I'll also probably age the binding and inlays slightly….
Also considering a 3ply black white black pick guard….

:excellent:

Holly Hunt are playing Savannah tonight with Shroud Eater, Ringworm, Enabler and Eyehategod and I am fucking missing it. Sucks being broke. Shroud Eater have came through GA twice since I put their record out and I've missed them both times. I feel like the shittiest turd for not being able to hang out with them, Last time I locked my keys in my truck and by the time I got it unlocked it was too late to make the trip.

Good news though is that tomorrow morning I'm gonna meet up with our drummer to record drum tracks for two new songs. If nothing else we will have some preproduction demo tracks but I'm hoping that I can get these to turn out as good or better than the song on our 7". I've got a new drummer, new drum mics, and more knowledge of how to get the sounds I want from recording our stuff last time. This time around I'm working with a drummer who knows how and doesn't mind playing to a click so it should go easier.

it cost me $300 shipped to my door with a courier and hard case.
Also, I have all the required parts laying about surplus from repairing and modding other guitars.
And another point, no one will make that guitar for under $2000.

It's chinese, they will do whatever you want. As for the actual craftmanship, probably not going to be on par with the 2000$ version, but they are getting better at it every day.

This is a damn shame.

Saw Eyehategod a week ago and it was fucking awesome. I mean -- I saw them back in April and it was quite good then but this venue was more intimate and I wasn't outside in frigid weather. They just sounded great and the stage was perfect size. Additionally, both Enable and Ringworm were fucking awesome.

And I was at a bar where the floor is modeled after the floor in Special Agent Dale Cooper's Laura Palmer dream with the backwards talking midget.

Anyway -- moral of the story is this...

I feel like we need to have a doom bro code. Like, straight up I would hate for ANYBODY to have to miss this show because they get paid next week. I feel like there are enough solid doom bros who would chip in a couple bucks here and there to get another solid doom bro some cheesus for a good show.
