I dig the lines thing those pedals got going on. I especially love when etchers find a particular niche that is unique to them. Not to say lines could be your 'thing', I'm just saying it for conversational sakes.

Yeah he did that on the Fifth Element etches that he made for Fuzzrocious, so I made him do it on all my other ones so they would match. My OCD is your gain.

Crazy talk! I kept all my gear and have it on loan to dudes I know. My buddy in LA has been gigging with my EGC and one of my VT-40s, my buddy Shaine in Fell to Low has been using my Harry Joyce Custom 100 for a bit now and John just used the Dunwich 200 to track some stuff for the new Fell to Low record for Rev records. I like knowing that people are getting good use out of my gear, after all I can only play so many things at once.

Ryder'd be glad to talk at length about cymbals. He is alt least as obsessive, if not more, about cymbals as anyone here is about amps and pedals. I think they are Paiste rudes? I could be wrong about that. I do know for sure that he uses the largest ones available. Be prepared for a lengthy discourse on striking angle and velocity as well as what areas of the cymbals have better structural integrity.
I'm just glad his new kit matches the volume those things put out.

I switched from Zildjian to Paiste last year and have been REALLY happy! Overall, Paistes sound like they are already mixed, meaning, it is as if they have their own sonic space that they operate in, and cut through very well, without being brash. I have had other cymbals that I have liked very much, but Paiste cymbals are very consistent and clear. The bell sounds are very beautiful and can cut right through a wall of amps no problem. I play large enough cymbals to have plenty of volume on tap. I look as if I am beating the hell out of them, but I also know how to hit them with glancing blows so that I am not blowing through cymbals and breaking them. Otherwise, my technique is a bit on the ham-fisted bashing side. I try hard not to break cymbals, they are far too expensive for that.
My cymbal family looks like this:
All Paiste 2002 series.
24" Ride
24" Reverend Al's Big Ride (right side crash)
22" Crash (left side crash)
15" Sound Edge Hi-Hats
Funny thing about the Hi-Hats, they didn't impress me too much in the store. But I bought them because it seems like you can't go wrong with Paiste cymbals within the same line. Its like they were meant to be together. But when I got them to practice, I was impressed. I was even more impressed when I got to play them live. My kit is pretty much a John Henry Bonham kit. Same snare, kit size, same cymbals, mine are bigger overall, (at least crashes). It is hard to argue with what works and sounds good. The Ludwigs are new for me. Last night was only the second time I played them out. I am still getting used to it. I have always had smaller size bass drums. Now I can HEAR and feel what I am playing. And like John said, now the drum volume can keep up with the cymbals.
Also, keep an eye out for used Paiste cymbals on Guitar Center used. I only purchased two of my cymbals new, and that's because I am an impatient mother fucker and wanted those missing pieces Neeeeoooooowww. But most of the things listed can be had for a few hundred here and there. Sometimes you get lucky. If I was to have repurchase, I would start with the 24" Ride, (crashable, favorite cymbal, can roar, super clear and loud bell) and one other larger sized crash. Then add to taste.

I've noticed most etchers do have a style that they excel at. Acid splash does those all over designs that impress the shit out of me. i think the other guy goes by Laowiz? His style is very recognizable. and DanDubbleEwe has a pretty crisp style but also does those color wraps that I don't.
I'm simple. Black Spray paint, clean lines. I've done so many cthulhu or wizard fuzzes for nick and Lopan etches for Fuzzrocious Ryan now that I know exactly what to look for for those. Lately I've been pushing myself to try for more photo realistic images. The fuzzrocious dracula is one of my favorites. Also reverse etches. The difficulty in not destroying the image (especially a fine line) is fun for me. (the reverse HM-2 etch i did for nick was a bit of an experiment that I was sweating over while doing it.... i just didn;t tell nick that til now.

My custom Revelation build is underway. Had an issue with the powder coating being able to match the color I was wanting to go for but this is looking pretty fucking awesome so far. Jason sent me this pic a few minutes ago.

The bass hanger is a cool simple idea. It was a B-day present for Tony. It locks on the back of an 810's towel rack with an upwards pointing hook. Its a good solid piece of metal with a standard rubber style guitar headstock hook to hang the bass from. Lolza, you just have to be smart enough to remember to set it up before you put your heavy-ass head on top of your amp. I like the idea a lot. It doesn't take up as much room as a stand and keeps your gear safe and out of the way.
Oddly enough, you won't find them in stores. They can be found online though.

Boatrich, the hanger works great. It's designed specifically to work with an ampeg 8x10. There's a bar that hooks under the large handlebar on the back of the cab that keeps it in place. It'd work even without an amp on top and with an amp there, iits not going to move at all.
