I couldn't really tell a difference. Most of the others are Europeans who have different concert values. One group of Italians wanted our grand piano to be tuned down and my boss told them no fucking way. We were not going to pay a dude to down tune the piano, which would take a few hours, for a few songs and then pay a guy to tune it back up, which would take another few hours. Not to mention the piano might not have been able to make it through the process and something could be permanently fucked up. Italians might have wanted it tuned up to 442 I think now, can't remember.

My guess is that it was 442, lots of European symphonic orchestral stuff is in 442 and 443.

edit: but again, fretless instruments.

Why? I have health and dental insurance with my job. I don't need additional.

Ah, then you got it made in the shade!
Sorry, I'm used to talking to people (down here, but also in the US) who dont see the point of health insurance, despite our broken public systems.
It seems to be a common thing. I know private health is expensive, but if you've ever had to wait at emergency and then foot the bill or get put on a waiting list for a simple or even serious condition that is easily treated.....Fucking nightmare scenario.
Anyway enough whinging about the gubmentband private corporations choking us to death.

On the topic of 440 vs other, I'm pretty sure that the standard varies from orchestra to orchestra and is tailored to either orchestra make up and the conductor's ear/preference or the acoustics in their home venue. Muso's that request a different pitch of concert standard probably do so because they'be grown up playing in ensembles that utilize those local tunings.
I was not aware of all the bizarre shit about 432 resonating with the fucking universe though.
And fuck playing that guitar, skip.

"gubmentband private corporations choking us to death" is more or less the status quo for US health insurance.

haha yea totally agree pope, sometimes I forget that most people in general don't have health insurance. So I'm very happy that I do.

my rig set up from last night:

Had a huge amount of compliments and inquiries on my cabs. And quite a few from musicians I respect from watching them their past/current bands. Might even have a consignment deal budding with a new orleans based music shop just based on the show and how well the cabs performed.

Nice setup! What are the tall ones?

New amp day for me: Image

Early 70s Ampeg V2. It'll pair nicely with my same-era V4...once my tech is done with it. Needs new power cord, and I want that MV mod out (why would anyone do that to a v4? Sheesh). It also appears to be modded insomuch as it is sporting a pair of KT88s or some similarly fat-bodied tubes. Not sure what they are, but they are old (RCA branded) and heavily used (appear to have scorch marks on 'em). If anything is fishy, the sumbitch who sold it to me is comin' off a hunk of cash because he neglected to mention the tube situation.

Also, any of you cats ever use a TC Helicon Create for your vocals? After some internet sleuthing, that appears to be one of the pedals Mike Scheidt uses/used live. Been wanting something so I can have echo, compression, and (when needed) a little overdrive on my voice.

I've never used any effects on my vocals. The only time some are applied is some reverb for recordings.

The tall ones are a 612 on the left and a 415 on the right.

powered with Ampeg SS140c and Ampeg SS150h

I could've gone louder but was warned that I can't get super loud. so I just kept it on 7.

I use a TC helicon Voice Live II. It does WAY more than I need it to but it sounds amazing. I'm not sure how it does it but just having it in between the mic and pa, with nothing actually on effects wise, maes a night and dayy difference with the quality of the vocals sound. Clarity is massively improved. It seems to shine the most with the shittier pa's. All the effects sound amazing and literally the sky is the limit with what you want to do with it. I only really use the flange, doubling, reverb and delay.
I'd recommend one of the cheaper options if you dont plan on using the effects a lot.

Mike scheidt has used this unit when I've seen him around here.Always sounds great. Only bad thing I've had with them is that the output is set to high from the factory. Getting the level correct will get rid of any issues you might have with feedback or excessive volume.

Shaolin, message me how much you'd charge me for a 6x12 in white. Same grill cloth you've got going on there, just white tolex or however you do it.
