Did you say you saw them last night? How was the show?
I ended up bailing. Sleep is taking up my show fundage at the moment, since I gotta cover gas. But I've seen them before and they're fucking awesome live -- last time I saw them they opened for WITTR.
I saw that on the FB group. Pretty cool, though I'm not into the antigua finish thing. With a burst body, black guard and maple board, I'd be all over it.

Understandable, and that sounds like a sick line up. WITTR and them together I could fitting really really well.

Born in '74. Turning 40 this year. Getting old is definitely doom.
Digging that bari Jazzmaster, but I think my next purchase is going to be an Ibanez AX7521. 1999 just had better 7-strings than now.

Those guitars are beast, I really like them. But I'm afraid the bridge wouldn't offer enough intonation adjustment for my tuning. I tried a schecter with the same scale length and bridge and it didn't work. The dearmonds I use have a tuneomatic but its not straight its angled back at the low side which offers tons of intonation range.
*edit* I just googled pics and its the 7221 I tried out (the one with the neck binding). I kinda like the binding more

Yeah, but your tuning is fucking ridiculous. =) I'm not going any lower than B/drop A, so I think I'll probably manage. The binding on the 7221 is more attractive, but the 7521s were MIJ and generally considered to be much better constructed instruments. Add some covered pickups (BKP Mules on order!) and I'm in business....

Ahhhhh I gotcha! You like covered pickups? I'm more partial to open ones especially on guitars like those that mount to the body with out pickup rings.

Yeah, I'm kind of a stickler about it - I tend to rub my hand on the bridge-pickup wrap if they're open-coil, which leads to fraying and general annoyance. I also just prefer the look of them for some reason. Fortunately, covered passive 7-string pickups are getting easier to come by.

Ahhhhhh okay that definitely makes sense. And your right the covered style even the ones to fit the body mount style are becoming more and more available.
I really wanna try one of the 7 string black winters in my blue DeArmond. Soooooo much low end and crunch to be had. I'd love to compare them to the BKP painkillers in my black one. The PK's actually have less low end than the SD distortions I currently have in the blue one, but they have more mids and a sweeter crunch to them.

^^^ Black and Blue Winter. =) Still thinking of getting a DeArmond 7 one of these days too (part of that Island of Misfit 7s idea I had a while back). Fortunately they pop up semi-regularly on the used market for cheap.

somebody at work recently didn't understand a Tommy Boy reference.
I was like, 'were you even around in the 90's!?' and then I realized that no, they were not.
I probably wouldn't have gotten it either, only watched a bit of that movie. Didn't like it. I'm not the biggest on just plain stupid slapstick.
And here I was thinking of the hip-hop label....
