Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Yea not the biggest fan of At the Gates as well. I like The Red in the sky is ours and with fear I kiss the burning darkness. The other two.. not so much. So when they announced they were working on new material. less than thrilled is about as nicely as I can put it.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
After dinner at my first date with my wife we went into my car, and Opeth's ghost reveries blasted out the stereo system, unintentionally, and she politely asked me to turn it down. I asked her if she wanted me turn it off and she said no, because she knew i liked it. Since then she's been to numerous metal gigs and festivals with me...even though she's into alternate rock. I asked her years about that first night and what she thought, she shrugged it off and said that she felt it would have been disrespectful for me to turn off the music i love.

My first date with my wife we went to the movies, her suggestion... the movie she wanted to see... Hostel. And she was thrilled to see people getting dismembered. At that time i wasn't sure if I should be worried for myself.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Y'all are crazy. I love at the gates. To each their own though. One of my favorites. I like all their albums but terminal spirit disease is my favorite. I'm skeptical about the new material, but I always am about any reunion album. They usually suck. But one of their guitarists is currently in a killer band and I've shot the shit with him a bit and know he still has good taste. The singer is also in disfear which is one of my favorite current punk bands, so maybe there's hope. The other members have done some pretty crappy bands though, so who knows.
Anyway, my girl rules and she's a metal head, which I love.

I like At The Gates. Not my favorite band or anything, but I enjoy most of their albums.
My wife isn't a metalhead, her interest in listening to recorded music is limited. She was a huge fan of The Cure when we met, she owns everything they've ever recording. Now she mostly listens to podcasts and audiobooks. She's gone to a lot of shows with me, she's open minded to hearing all kinds of music. She's never given me a hard time about any music I've listened to or criticized anything I like in that wincing "oh, this is metal?" way. I've gotten her into a few bands that she knows by name if she hears them, but I would say in general she's supportingly indifferent.

I met my girlfriend at a shitty gig that my friend's band were doing. I took the piss out of her brother almost to the point of tears, then emasculated her then-boyfriend with my gargantuant wit.
She broke up with him like a week later and asked for my number

I love At the Gates... They were a big influence on me growing up and still enjoy their music to this day. Disfear is also freaking awesome.
My wife is pretty cool with music, she likes some crazy synthy / EDM stuff and some pop but she also rocks out to Kyuss, QOTSA, and quite a few other things more towards my side of the fence on a constant basis. What's awesome is while she doesn't exactly enjoy most of the music i create she always is insightful in a non-bias way when I ask for her thoughts.

Will I be shunned from the Doom Room if I said that the other guitarist in the band and I are looking to downsize to one cab only? We're looking into getting a 6x12 each so we can cut down on load in / out times.

Better to play one cab at full volume, that two at half volume. If you're already playing two at full volume, just nut up and buy a dolly and a back brace.

6x12's are respectable.
i'd prefer 6x10's or 2/3x15's, but that's just me.
lay that shit horizontal.
