A later investigation concluded that the 26,000-pound (12,000 kg) vessel had jumped 9 feet 1 inch (2.77 m) and the upper control rod drive mechanisms had struck the ceiling of the reactor building prior to settling back into its original location.

shit
The spray of water and steam knocked two operators onto the floor, killing one and severely injuring another.

shiiit
One of the shield plugs on top of the reactor vessel impaled the third man through his groin and exited his shoulder, pinning him to the ceiling.

SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
All three men succumbed to injuries from physical trauma; however, the radiation from the nuclear excursion would have given the men no chance of survival.

This is the best thing. Especially when the top gets shaved off and they just keep going. So satisfying.

My Watches n' Stuff

Post by Twangasaurus »

Since jfrey and I sort of made this the unofficial occasional watch thread I guess I'll post my shit here. Just felt like sharing the stuff I have bought so far this year. Pics might be a bit big so I will NSFW them. Sorry, not my usual posting style.

Pre-ordered - Helgray California, super excited for this one to arrive. I really like the small seconds sub-dial and the buffalo grain strap. The watch is named after the dial style which has the combination of roman and arabic numerals. It was originally used on dive watches to help with orientation underwater (sometimes in pitch black). A lot of really cool design elements went into dive watches like the luminous paint on the hands and the uni-directional rotating bezel most of which are redundant now with current diving equipment (both of the aforementioned elements were to stop you from running out of air essentially). Very cool historically though and a level of functional design I really admire. Not that all that has anything to do with the watch because it ain't a dive watch, I just think it's pretty.

Miansai M24, it's one handed and I absolutely adore the design of this guy. I really like minimalist designs but was getting pretty sick of the bauhaus trend. Worn and Wound just posted a review on it as well. Specs aren't great for the price though (in fact they kind of suck).

Autodromo Prototipo, the pride of my collection and by far the most fucking expensive. Cleaned me right out. All of Autodromo's watch designs are based heavily in car racing and the watches used by drivers. Again a few function historical design elements that I won't go into this time. The Prototipo is designed after retro racing chronographs and more specifically draws it's inspiration from TAG Heuer's Autavia. The barrel shaped case and perforated strap are, in particular, indicative of this style. It's that lugless look that just melts me though, love it.

Cadence MFA All-Black, my beater watch and what I am wearing most of the time, especially in hot weather. I changed the stock leather strap (which sucked) for a http://www.suigeneric.com/products/houndstooth-black-white. Again, I'm a big sucker for the small seconds sub-dial.

Will probably end up getting a Christopher Ward C5 quartz for the occasional black-tie type thang I'm forced to go. Probably somewhere around Christmas time. Hopefully they have a sale or something. Also ended up selling all of my automatics as well, they were just a pain in the arse. Too expensive to buy, too expensive to maintain, fragile, didn't keep very good time. They were also beautiful and I miss them but fuck they are so inconvient.

If you actually read all this wank then colour me suprised, sure didn't expect you to.

No, if I'm not mistaken it's SL-1, which was a US test reactor (on land).

The vessel jumping wouldn't make a lot of sense for subs but also I recognise it cos I'm a nuclear geek.
