Saw uncle acid last night. It's rare that I'm blown away by a live band. I always thought it sounded like they had a really good singer, but that a big part of the vocal sound was layered vocal tracks. I was all ready to be disappointed cause that's not going to happen live. But boy was I wrong. Both guitarists are actually great singers and the layered vocal sound is real in that both of them are singing together pretty much the whole time. And it was tight as fuck. The drummer was also the pinnacle of perfection. Solid as hell. Super tight. Very minimal fills. And he totally controlled the songs just with how hard he hit in a perfect way. Super dynamic and nuanced. Every hit was fucking perfect. And when it was right he hit really hard, which I love.
Best live band I've seen in a good while. Do not miss it if they're coming near you.

The wife and I went to the Bloodmoon show in San Jose last night, but we ended up having to leave before any bands played. It was a little over an hour drive each way and I didn't want to leave my mom with our 2 month old at our house til after midnight. We still had a fun time just having our first outing with no baby, my wife wanted to be able to have more than one beer and hang around adults for a few hours straight. I chatted with Peter and Pat and bought a Bloodmoon shirt before we left, hopefully I get a chance to actually see them play sometime soon.

Messed around with the eq on my Soldano earlier and got the perfect (well, almost) blend of wall crushing fuzzed out doom and tight palm muting that will kick your dick in. Bass dimed, mids dimed, treble off, and presence on 2. Cleans sound pretty fat and clear too. Anyone else run a similar eq? I haven't tried it on the Matamp yet so I dunno how it will sound.
