Can't wait for the ODB to get here. :yay:

The etches look SICK though, I take it the monkey of death is blame for those beautiful creations?

Yea Chris is doing 99.5% of my etches. DanDub did the etch for Sonny's VT as per Sonny's request.

FT Regular is like the Cthulhu + EQ + Boost

FT Deluxe is like the Cthulhu with more controls + 2 band EQ + Boost.

Also Presonus + Mac = recipe for awesomesauce with no issues :thumb:

What DAW do you run?

The default wireless and wired mice made by Apple can be setup for two button configuration. I always set mine up that way. I've been playing Diablo 3 with my wireless Apple mouse on my new iMac and it works just fine. If I were into more games I may consider something different.

I use Logic Pro X on my Mac but I'm currently up shit creek without a paddle when it comes to a good interface. I've got an Apogee JAM that I can use with my old ass iPad or my iMac. I haven't set it up since I hooked up the new iMac last week.

Driver issues are rarely a problem for OS X with most of the audio products. That being said M-Audio did neuter a few things when they changed hands. This has driven me mad. I'm on the hunt for something new now just have to find some deals.

I actually like to use the Magic Trackpad in Logic. The gestures can do some nice things. I also like that you can use an iPad as a controller if you want.

I gotcha.

That's what I thought about the FT, I have no real complaints with the Cthulhu definitely not enough to warrant needing more controls.

ORLY? I've been using a Razer mouse for a long time and the only Apple mouse I have is a really old school single button so I didn't know.

Apogee makes great stuff, I use Tascam stuff (a US-1641 for inputs and a FW-1081 for console control)

Tis true!!!! I stopped using M-Audio interfaces long ago.... they never worked correctly on any platform from my experience.

I'll have to check out that video here shortly it looks interesting.

The price was right... I placed an order. I'll be waiting overseas, checking my mailbox every day, haha.

...I think this may be the first time I'll have to wait for customs for a pedal... :whateva:

Would a macbook be OK or would I need something bigger? I'd like to use something that's as easily mobile as I can.

Most definitely, try to get something late 2009 or newer so youc an run the newest OS's but I have an 08 regular macbook that still rocks at tracking in Ableton (I just mix on a different comp with more ram).

I dont know what it is about me...maybe im just tech-idiot...i can never work out recording software and when i read up on it, it all just sounds so complicated thats its overwhelming. I got a mac thinking i would start recording etc but just ended up giving up on the idea as it seemed like such a stretch for me.

How long did it take you guys to get with recording software? Half the stuff i dont understand because ive never recorded in a studio either, so the terminology is way over my head.

I dove in head first knowing next to nothing and it took about 6 months to get semi-fluid. Once you get the hang of how things work in general they all become easier to use as they all have the same premise just going about in different ways to get the desired result. Basic mixing is easy, its once you get into plug-ins / VSTs / effects that everything gets uber complicated.

:idk:

If you just want to record some guitar tracks it takes almost no knowledge whatsoever. It's pretty basic with Garageband out of the box.

Conky,

I think you'd be fine with any of the newish MacBook Pros. Doesn't have to be a Retina or anything, I'm talking like just baseline MacBook Pro. Easy to max out RAM later on if you wish and you can upgrade the hard drive at any point in time if you want. Won't run games but I don't think you give a shit about that. Biggest problem would be CPU bottle neck if you're trying to record the whole band live -- Skip might have more insight as far as that area goes.

If you pick up something used/older than you should ideally aim for 2010-sh or newer to get some life out of it. If you're planning on going new pleas consider PMing me as I may be able to assist you further.

Agreed. Getting the right interface for what you want to do is another huge part of it, too. For me,I'm running oscillators and delay pedals into a PC that really isn't optimized for recording, so being able to monitor what's going on independently of the DAW was a must. All I use Ableton for, more or less, is arming the track and recording it, but all my sonic architecture stuff is happening outside of it.

I imagine having to record my bass rig into my current setup would be hair-pullingly annoying, but I've got engineer friends with their own recording rigs (who are way, way better at that shit than I am) that I can avail myself of, you know?

I'm with you. I'd be lost. Luckily my guitarist has this down. He recorded and mastered our whole ep. But I'd love to be able to do some recording. I'd like to be able to get quality recordings of my bass. I feel like that's what's missing from my home playing. I could do so much more.
