went and looked at a car yesterday that i think i'd like to buy, but the dealer wants 1/4 more than it's worth (price: 8700; Kelley Blue Book value: 5500-7000). I don't really know what to do because i've never negotiated a used car deal before. i'm really afraid of having to walk because they won't come down enough, because i really need a new car.

Just present your research and talk them down. I know car shopping sucks but that seems way overpriced and there are plenty of reasonably priced cars out there if this one doesn't work out. The Blue Book is a credible source so I'm sure they'll understand.

yeah I agree with Wes, if you show him that and it's all the same specs and mileage how could he not bring it down? (unless he's a total dick) Definitely not worth losing a couple of thousand to avoid a possibly awkward conversation!

Yeah and just like with music gear, he could be overshooting his asking price on purpose to leave a little wiggle room for negotiation while not undercutting the blue book value.

met the girlfriend's old friend from back home yesterday and she was really flirty with me, kinda weirded me out. Who gives sexy eyes to their friend's boyfriend right in front of them? I probably shouldn't bring it up to her and cause strain on their friendship, though.

also see if you can get a carfax report, or receipts for the work he's had done to it. That may at least account for why he's asking more, although $1700-$3000 more seems like a LOT. Just a thought

I've been feeling oddly sad. It doesn't like depression, I know what that feels like. This feels like nostalgia, but sadder. Like I've lost something from my past I can't get back and no matter how hard I wish or try to remember, I can't figure out what it is.

Dude I know exactly the feeling you're describing, except I usually realize what I lost.

Graduating college is the worst feeling, like you have to do it (or leave eventually), but it sucks and so does the so called 'real world.'
