I think Mike from Effect or Die might have recorded some brief clips, but I'm not sure if they came out or not- the first one he uploaded lost the sound. Not sure if the others that he recorded experienced a similar fate

Were you performing something that you've recorded before or just an improvised drone set?

It was improvised. I had an idea in my head, but of course it just went completely out the window when I started playing. Lots of looping and layering with heavy slow playing under it

Cool man, wish I could have gone and checked that out. Seeing the pic of you playing your guitar surrounded by all that gear, reignited my thoughts that I should just give up looking for a drummer and work on writing material around the idea of playing solo on stage. I don't do drone, but I've played around with the idea of just recording backing tracks and/or doing some live looping.

Yeah dude! That's pretty much what I did. I had originally gone into it thinking that I was going to try to play a track that I had recorded on Monday by looping all the parts, but I got super nervous for whatever reason and just ended up doing completely random slow heavy looping stuff instead. Overall I connected all of the different loops/riffs together, it just wasn't as structured as I would have liked it to be. People seemed to really dig it though, and that's what matters. Aen was outside on the phone cause his wife called and he said he could hear my set start from downstairs and outside and he was like GET OFF THE PHONE I NEED TO HEARRRR THISSSSSS jhahaha

recorded tonights session with the other guitarist on my iPhone...this played at relatively low volumes in the living room...and solo's need to be nailed down...but pretty happy with the direction of our song writing...

Odont - agreed, maple board with black blocks seems weird but right all at once. I need one in my life. Maybe a black, single pickup jazzblaster.

If I can find a place to make a pickguard for it this will be a single pickup all black badass mother fuck face. Sadly nowhere I have found will make one that fits.

That sucks. Maybe just find a regular black one and cover the neck pickup hole with some black tape? You know, for teh indie credz?

It was a blast! Got to meet up with Aen, and Mike from Effect or Die, some old DC friends, and some dudes from Instagram that I'd been talking to for a long while.
Only shitty parts were the 3 flights of stairs, the rain, and the traffic getting there.

Solid sets all around from everyone. Modular sets, my guitar set, Aen's pedal set. Longs of hnnnng time and trying out everyone's gear. Was a blast

WHAT IS BEST STOMP FOR DOOM

Irrelevant once it's revealed that Matamp released fake schematics and gooped the original GTs to hide the toanz. Turns out ibanez were the only company find out what the real deal was: enter the tube screamer.

All dirt is just a tubes creamer. Even before there were tube screamers. (intentionally leaving iPad auto correct in the wrong)

While we're all going apeshit for preamps, I'd still like to see an SS150 in a box.....anyone wanna make that happen for me?

Darren should get in on this as well. The MatApe GTBlaster420 would be badass.

So would the Dirge model.

I suggest making a facebook page, you got posted in one of the bigger gear forums that a bunch of us are on.

As for the ss150, I am working on a design for a pedal based on the clipping section of the vh140c. I'm no pro builder, but if anything good comes out of it, I'll probably be posting it here.

That seems reasonable. I've been meaning to get around to it for a while, and all this preamp talk might just be enough to get me off my ass and back to the bench. Grad school sucks and it's hard to get home after a long day of work and keep working, lol.
