Sam - I'll check out that soundcloud you posted here shortly, I am excite.

So yesterday I got in my ODB V.2 and my Behringer Vintage Time Machine :yay: today should be my project telecaster :yay: will post up reviews of the ODB this weekend after I get some more time with it but the FET clipping on it is amazing, smoothest most amplike overdrive I've played.

Here's a shitty demo: First is just the Clean boost maxxed out, then the ODB comes on and then I kick on the VTM

yes!

which pedal is the ODB? I've never seen pics of that one. that overdrive sounds like nothing i've ever heard, it's like the grit is there but all those thin shitty frequencies you get with most drives is absent. totally sounds like amp dirt, i couldn't tell.

i hope you like the VTM man, it love mine and will be getting at least one more.

It's Nicks take on an OCD style circuit called the Ol' Dirty Bass, this is the first Version 2 which has an added mids control and I believe some more clipping and low cut options. And you nailed on the head what I told him last night. It's definitely the most amp like OD I've used, so smooth and no harshness at all. It does sound very different in the other clipping modes which I will outline in this weekends demo.

I do love it, i'm thinking in this setup it's gonna be an always on pedal. With the preamp (level) dimed it adds this perfect amount of grit on top of your tone and the repeats sit perfectly in the background where you might not notice them there but you notice when they aren't there.

*edit* Also wanted to note that this is the first dirt pedal I've ever used where maxing out the bass EQ was too much. Like ridiculous holy shit balls on bass this would destroy cabs too much low end. Guh we need a jizz smiley for shit like this.

Hey dudes.

I'm looking for a distortion with a tight and focused bass response that would be good for palm muting. I've been considering the Zvex BOR and a few different Tonebender clones. I used to have a Barber Trifecta, and the Tonebender setting on that one worked pretty well. Most ODs aren't dirty enough, and most fuzzes are too loose.

Any ideas?

You could try the Way Huge Fat Sandwich. I like it alot, and it's got enough controls to it that you can pretty much get as tight or loose as you want with it

Christian...check out the MXR superbadass...its way better than its marketing suggests. And has good eq controls too. I really liked it while i had it. Also...wampler SLOstortion was really good too.

i've been stoked on darren's ape blaster fuzz for quite a while now. however it's a one knobber with no eq, so it might not be up your alley, depending. but it does have a bass cut switch that i never used at first but have found useful recently. i also found the supercollider to be pretty good for this, even though it's muff based. the eq is really powerful, huge amounts of gain, and it's a pretty "distortion-y" kind of fuzz. i'm sure others have better suggestions, cause i have less experience than a lot of folks here with buying and flipping shit.

i wanted to say though, i recently worked wonders on the bass response on my amp by changing preamp tubes and getting some fancy pants vintage shit that i got a good price on. it really solved some problems that no pedal has been able to fix.

BOR is a good one. The Catalinbread DLS is also pretty sweet. A good tonebender clone would probably also get the job done. Then again, there's also this:

But seriously you might want to check one out. I don't think the Supercollider is quite 'tight' enough for what you're suggesting, although you can certainly tame it I don't think (projecting here) that for what you're going for it would be the best option.
good deals are here.
