So many people make V30's sound great to me, but they're always have way too extreme of an EQ curve for the way I like to craft tones. I have older Celestion 65's in the 2x12 I record all my demos with and it's perfect for how I work. Just even/dark enough to get me to a neutral tone I like without sounding too muffled, spikey or scooped in any weird ways. I really want to try those ET90's out, whenever I'm able to raise the funds to build some new guitar cabs...or just buy the speakers to swap out in my Marshall.

Yea I can do a video demo this weekend or so. I got this thru a trade with Badr for his twin peaks themed FuzzThrone

I think V30's are very picky about the box they go into. In the Orange and Mesa cab's they sound killer but in every other cab I've tried em in I was always let down. Tons and tons of mids but no low end at all. The reason I like the 65's is just as you mentioned neutral / dark but not muffled, they tame the high end of an amp very very well. If your not playing guitar in a band and just recording then i'd say just swap em out when you get a chance!

Yeah, I think I'm just going to save up and hopefully swap them out in my 4x12 next year. That or maybe just go ahead and sell the stock G12T-75 speakers now, since I never use the 4x12 much at all. One of the bands I've done as a recording project is planning on transition to live gigs early next year, so I want to translate that sound I get with my 2x12 to a louder, higher power format.

Anyone who has ever met me will assure you that I am the opposite of macho. Fortunately for me, there is enough pure, uncut white trash coursing through my veins that I am a hopeless muscle car guy.

So guys I'm back in a band again. We are playing mostly fast obnoxious punk stuff at this point but I managed to get us to add "A history of bad men" to the list. yay!

I think I'm the only dude on here that seems to love v30's. I do want to replace the m-70's in my Laney cab with some K100's or 75's, tho. Just for contrast from my Butcher cab.

V30s are my favorite. I don't currently own any but I would choose them given the opportunity.

I love v30s. One of my cabs has v30s, the other Electeic Lightnings and Wizards in an x pattern. It's a heavy combination. Same with recording. Of all the different cabs and speakers I have used, I prefer v30s on recordings by far.
