Also every video I see of Matt Pike makes me like the guy even more, if that's possible. He's so earnest, goofy, and real.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
My cab came in today. I'm having a hard time trying to wire this thing up. Never done it before. Going for 4 16 ohm speakers with 2 8 ohm sammiched in between for a total of 8 ohms. I know it won't read 8 exactly on a multimeter but I have no clue where it should be once I get it wired up. HALP ME GUISE!!!

Should, at the jack, measure around 6.2ohms.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Yup, 6x12. Trying to get at 8 ohms on my amp. Petras sent me this diagram as it was a bit easier to read than the one Skip just posted.

I used the bottom one because one of the wires was too short to do the top one. I'm a fucking moron when it comes to anything with electricity so the multimeter is set to 20k and is reading something like 26 or 27 at the jack. What the fuck am I doing wrong? I don't have anything soldered in yet because I wanted to make sure I got it right. Could that have anything to do with it?

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
You should set it to the smallest possible resistance range

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Yup. thats it. Something is up but I can't figure out.

EDIT:
Ok so I flipped the wires coming off the bottom speakers to the ones on the top. The bottom right (-) goes to the top left (-) and the bottom right (+) goes to the top left (+) and it reads 7.2 on the multimeter. Is that right?
Oh yeah, HOLYGODDAMM are both of these cabs gorgeous. Pics in a bit of the front and all.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Bottom left speaker.... the incoming wire should be on the other terminal. as of right now you have both the positive and negative from the top pair going to both negative terminals on the bottom pair.
*edit* saw your edit that sounds right if you can post another pic we can confirm.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Nice Atlas! I've got a red stained 6x12 myself. I had Petras flip the guts and put the sealed 2x12 part at the bottom. That way, when I ran it with one amp, the loudest part would be on the bottom by my ankles and "blend" a little better with the top four.
I experimented with wiring mine two ways: series/parallel and parallel/series. One is supposed to be able to have a stronger low end, but I found that they sounded very, very (very) similar. I'd say identical, but someone with a degree might be able to shit out some theory to the contrary.
