What all are you looking for? I've got a bunch of extra drum shit that is just laying around.

Mainly just a new shell kit, I want either a nice maple or acrylic kit in Bonham / Zep sizes (26 [or 24] / 14 / 16 / 18).

I dig my old ass Pearl Export (90-93 era which is birch / mahogany blend) 24 / 14 / 18, but I dunno I feel like why am I sitting on sooooo much guitar gear when I don't play in a band and most likely won't play guitar in a band for quite a long time except for a small recording project here and there, yet I do play drums and gig / record quite often but I'm using lower quality gear. Makes me wonder if I have my priorities off kilter.

But you KNOW you'll get back into guitar a year from now full-swing and want all your stuff back. I did the same thing as you and stopped buying guitar gear and got into drums full-time. One year later and I decided to sell all my drum gear and buy a new guitar. Don't miss it that much.

But you KNOW you'll get back into guitar a year from now full-swing and want all your stuff back. I did the same thing as you and stopped buying guitar gear and got into drums full-time. One year later and I decided to sell all my drum gear and buy a new guitar. Don't miss it that much.

Well it's not like I would sell EVERYTHING, just one rig (the randall rig, pedaltrain board, and a few pedals). As much as I tend to flip gear the Dunwich / Emperor stack is never going anywhere ever unless I become disabled and completely unable to play, period. I've never even entertained the thought. I'd also keep one pedalboard, the telemaster, and probably both dearmonds. I'm not gonna stop playing guitar, that would require alot of outside forces working against me. I've just got to come to terms that as far as playing out I'm a drummer first and foremost and have been for 20 years (even though I've had the most "success", I guess you could, say as a guitarist / bassist). I also have less and less time at home to play as taking care of 3 kids and cleaning up a house after work keeps me busy until I pass out (which is why I'm only on here during the day), and the free time I do get should probably be focused more on honing my drum skills than dicking around playing loops on guitar.

Also as far as a year from now, well I plan on being in Lord until the end. It's truly my best friends from the scene around here and I truly enjoy the music, plus in the scene I'm definitely more known as a drummer. More often then not when people recognize me or haven't seen me in ages they always say "Hey, your the drummer from Ol' Scratch" not "Hey, your the guitarist / vocalist from Ancient Astronaught". So even if Lord disbands, I know that if I'm asked to join another band it will be to play drums, and honestly it is the instrument I am more confident on, without a doubt. When I watch crazy guitarists online I'm like shit I wish I could play like that, but when I watch drummers its more like "wow I gotta learn how to do that and incorporate that into my playing" because I know I can do it, unlike guitar where I have more physical limitations.

Dude, the Randall is cool and all, but pretty easily replaceable in the long run. Plus, you got a good enough deal on it that you'll at least break even there. And pedals - aside from a few rare ones - are also pretty easy to get back should you find yourself wanting or needing them.

I didn't mean to act questioningly. I hope I didn't come across as patronizing? For me, after a year of playing drums, I knew where I belonged. I don't regret the time I spent away from guitar at all. I enjoyed playing drums and if I were a wealthy man then I would absolutely have a £2000 kit in my music room. I learned a great deal about rhythm as well, which translated to writing compositions without a full band to guide me, as a solo guitarist.

I think you should look into selling some of your gear. I take back my comment.

If I was in this situation I would hang on to my guitar gear and buy the nice kit I want on some sort of 6 month interest free type deal. That is if I had a job and could pay it off before 6 months. Have your cake and eat it too.

Exactly my thoughts.... and I mean we jammed a lil bit with me on drums... when you and evan were jamming I just slid behind and was instantly in the groove, I just can't do that with guitar...

Oh no your cool dude! See that's where I'm at right now, this crazy crossroads.... I know where I belong and where I shine, its just admitting it to myself and accepting that I'm gonna have to work my myself (physically mainly) to stick to it.

I got a kit sitting in my room and I barely play it. Hopefully that will change though when I get this home recording comp upgrade done. I'm gonna have a decent small recording studio and I plan on banging out all kinds of demos of new stuff. I was doing that with EZDrummer but I got tired of clicking on a mouse a million times just to make 10 seconds of a drum beat. I figure I can have everything set up and just click the record button to lay down a guitar track and then go back and play drums to it.

drums are cool...i loved playing them, but they take up so much space and are rediculously loud. Back when I bought my drum kit, the electronic ones were really shit and expensive, so never looked into them.

i'm hoping to get a electronic kit in the near future...and do what you want to do Conky...i hate trying to make drum tracks with a keyboard and mouse...there is no feel to it what-so-ever. For me especially, as when i did play drums, i wasnt a beat master, i use to play the guitar riffs on drums.

I have an Alesis electric kit that I just packed up and moved out of the way for my Tama set. It was a pain in the ass recording with them because I couldn't mix track levels. My setup wasn't ideal though. Plus I am used to beating the fuck out of a kit and my electric kit just couldn't handle it. The rack tom kept flopping over after about 5 or 6 hits on it.

yeah i may have the same problem with the hard hitting side of things.

but for practicality purposes, they would do the job. I guess, if i lived somewhere i could have an acoustic set, i wouldnt even consider electric drums. but inner city living sucks for that. I would use the time i can make loud noises towards riffing...then play the e-drums at night.

I live in the city, but my neighbors are pretty cool so far. I only play for about 15 minutes at a time here and there throughout the day but they haven't complained yet. I have been playing guitar there at gigging volume ever since I moved there and haven't had a complaint with that yet either. Still... I get kinda worried about the drums though.

yeah guitar is cool for me too, i dont play at gigging volumes but loud enough for my ears to start ringing a little...the biggest problem with guitar is if you live in a new building where the walls are fucking paper thin!

but drums is a whole different ball game. I remember when my brother use to get on it and i was out of the room...not only was it the sound, but it also felt like someone jumping around in the room too...so for flats where you have neighbours underneath, it would be pretty rough.
