Play three times slower

This!

Also...nearly all my songs have long acoustic interludes which helps with the length as well

How many changes in the songs? If there are ten different parts and the song is only 3 minutes long, you need to stretch that out. think about if you've played the riff long enough to enjoy it. If it feels rushed, it is.

But sometimes having tons of parts in a 3 min song works well. case in point Soilent Green:

the main point is if you play through the song and it feels right to you then the length shouldn't matter at all a solid song is all that matters.

I saw Beast in the Field this weekend! Pretty sweet doom band local to my area of MI... Fucking LOUD. It's a two piece, and the guitarist had 4 full stacks.

Here's some shitty pics! :joy:

the view from afar

And the rig - looks like a laney supergroup, marshall super bass (?), and blue line svt, with some unidentifiable amp on top that he always has... Pretty sure he uses an octave down pedal to the bass heads... he had a board of all custom looking stuff, but pretty much just toggled one pedal that took the loud-ass guitar amps to SUPER ZOMFG LOUD ALL AMPS. I was wearing ear plugs and I still have some ringing two days later.

Check 'em out, this is from a show earlier this year. The dude's full rig is one to rival whiskey's... :erm:

It's also different when playing with a drummer. I had some songs written last year. After playing with a drummer I was like, "I want all of these parts to breathe more." Now I'm drummerless again. Up in the air. Guitar player may be moving to California so that can suck a fuck.

Did meet one rando at Guitar Center today who seemed legit. I came in wearing my Pallbearer shirt to see if ANYBODY there would be like, "sweet shirt." Some guy did. Then he sold me an EQD Rainbow Machine. He asked if I was into Doom like "Sleep, Electric Wizard and Bongripper." I said yes. He gave me his number. Might hit him up. Said he had "pretty nice gear."

Gonna show him Whiskey's bass rig.

Also, mega LOLZ at whiskey's response to the "His rig rivals Whiskeys."

so i started a new contract job a few months ago, just to fill the gap between my redundancy and moving...and last week I went out for some drinks with some guys/gals...met a guy, who seemed cooled...got to talking and he tells me he plays in a band, a two peice...he said their music is kinda doom, but very improvisational. Its him on bass and another guy who works a drum machine.

Anyway, we exchanged tracks on friday...only got to listen to it over the weekend...the music is a big electronic...but doom'ish...the beats are really industrial and dirty as fuck with the bass lines having a bit of groove and also dirty as fuck. I could hear myslef playing some slow droned out riffs over the top of it and it would fit perfectly.

He listened to a couple of my tracks and liked what he heard too...now...his suggested the next time him and the other guy get together for a jam/recording sessions i should go along.

too early to say, but i think this would be a cool as fuck project and could turn into something really interesting music wise.

but...with only 3 months to go in the UK...FUCK...i wish this happened like 2 or 3 years ago!

There's way too much from the weekend to catch up on.... so here's a synopsis of mine:

1) Headlined a wicked show for a couple friends birthdays, we got cut off due to running over time at 5 songs but it was one of the most intense sets I've ever played. Weee

2) Saw a few other kick ass bands at the show:

Sloth Herder (FUCKING SICK!!!!!!)

D U T C H G U T S (freaking NJ badasses, the bassist used a Hovercraft Andromeda into two marshall 4x12's)

3) Got offered to audition for one my favorite bands in the area, a band that even DOS knows and is a fan of, to play drums for them... but the wife says no and we're all ready fighting and on the verge of breaking up so I don't want to push it....
