oh shit
pm'ing pope right now
if your still drinking, and ok
or you stopped on your own
than even the idea of AA can be strange
forget about the higher power part
thats what most my friends have always asked about
"so are you into jesus and shit?"
"that place seems like a cult"
and this one proves that im different
"what about will-power?"
i aint got that
there are people that make it look bad and lame
but thats with everything
at the core of AA' s meaning is saving lives
who is gonna argue with that?
dont worry how it works until you need to show up
just be glad it was there for those of us that need it
as far as bringin program peeps to holidays
thats askin for douche chillz

Well said dude. I was never meaning to say it couldn't work for anyone and I am glad that it has helped some of you guys in here. I have never had to deal with shit like that so I don't really know what it is like. Again I'm glad that it has been good to you guys.
As for strings I was using the ernie ball baritone set: http://www.ernieball.com/products/bass- ... 9-58-scale on my logos which is a fender scale and tuned to A. They were nice, I just felt the low string was a bit too thick so I just put on a set of d'addario baritone light which has a 62. I haven't really gotten to play it much so I will have to report back on whether I will stay with that or move up to the medium baritone which has a 68.
I also got around to putting in the quarter pound and black winter into the logos too, and I am looking forward to trying them out with the band.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
It's hard to choose string gauges over the internet... To me the sweet spot is very small. If they are too floppy it's no fun. You have to be too delicate with chordings to not fret things out of tune, bending and vibrato is too easy. But if the strings are too big they get too twangy and have too much chime and pick attack. I like the murkiness and the slight bloom from a detuned guitar.
Like Iommi tuned down to C# vs Animals As Leaders. The 9 string sounds "better", long scale length, big strings, but to me the lower string sounds like the Korn bass or Lars Urlichs bass drum. Too much click and "definition". If it starts sounding like a bass instead of a guitar at all then I go smaller. Or sometimes the lowest string doesn't mesh properly with the other strings on chords if it's too much larger than the A and D strings.
I also like an unwound G so... Don't like that 7 string feel off 4 wound strings on the bottom but will do it on a Gibson scale if it's tuned to A.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Ran my Soldano into the new Atlas cab today. HOLYFUCK! The 55hz Reapers sound excellent and fixed the harshness in the highs that I didn't like when I ran it into my Emperors. Still clear and crushing. The Black Forest set at lower gain od stacked into the Badascan is probably the heaviest stacked tone I have ever dialed in. Can't wait to get these tones recorded this weekend.

I got a Presonus Firepod yesterday and now I have 8 track recording capabilities. Gonna record the whole band at one time this weekend. Hopefully my neighbors will be cool with us playing for a few hours until we get the drums done at least.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
so, i've managed to get out of xmas for a few days...i never thought i would look forward to going back to work...but with a 2 yr old, a new born baby and inlaws, all in a 2 bed flat...i needed a break!
first things first...Pope...you gotta spill the beans...you can't allude to a story and not tell it, thats not how it works...comon bro!
Conky...that set up looks sick as hell. Do you run the matamp as well as the Soldano at gigs?
also...this...some sick shit on this video...for the skaters in the room...

Pregain on 4, bass dimed, mids on 6.5, treble on 3.5, presence on 6, depth dimed, and volume on 5. I put a 12at7 in v2 or v3 (can't remember right off) and it made the cleans really clean. With all 12ax7s it gets a little dirty, still sounds good but its not pristine cleans.

Speaking of strings. What do you guys think of Circle K strings? I tend to like the tone of nickel strings, there's a smoothness with the highs and they tend to bend more naturally. Do Circle K's have good tone and feel? I think I might bite the bullet and get an 8-string and I'm trying to figure out my options.
I use the same (.68 low) for A as well, 60 for C/B.
I have Circle K .12-.79's on my dearmonds in drop F and absolutely love them. I used the tension calculator to figure out what the tension of what I was used to was and matched it. They sound great for the longest out of any string I've used (unlike ernie balls...), don't get nasty or cruddy quickly (I also don't seem to sweat alot though), and I haven't broken a string yet. I don't know how to describe the feel of strings but they are definitely the most comfortable. If your getting an 8 string (and if its the one I think it is your a lucky bastard) then they are definitely the brand to go with.

It is! I've missed the last few pages. What did you do to hurt yourself? Hope you're OK.

Nah, just the Matamp and the Atlas but with the way the Soldano was sounding yesterday I'm pretty sure that the Matamp / Emperor will be my bedroom rig. I'd like to run adual rig but I feel dumb running two while Matt only does 1. If he gets a second head I'm sure we'd end up running dual rigs.
