Ok, speaking hypothetically (for funsies) I think more than that it was simply the best tool we had at the time to explain all the crazy shit nature and our lives throw at us, bringing structure to the world, but maybe not a higher purpose living under god or anything like that. I feel like that would have been a bit later. It played a similar role to what science does now essentially. I think perhaps more importantly it was a social tool as well, inadvently at first but then used more purposefully by religious (or otherwise) leaders. Laying down a level of moral guidance/laws for the betterment of the group, giving leaders a certain level of authority, creating a stronger sense of community through rituals, traditions and story telling. That sort of shit. I don't view this cynically either, like people trying to get one over on people by using god (though I'm sure it happened occasionally), I just think people knew it's worth (and it was worth more then, in my opinion) when our existence was more "us against a dangerous world". A sort of natural extension of our, to use Eivinds phrase, pack mentality.

Yeah I agree. Oops my bad, sorry. I edited that line out seconds later. I didn't realize this thread was so active now! I usually edit my own posts a few times within a couple minutes of posting. Easy to get carried away in text.
I do that a lot. I always wonder if people notice that a while after a post I'm still going back and correcting grammar, or changing sentences or whatever.
In any case, regardless of disagreements, I still always consider everyone on here buddies.

Let's get this back on a subject that really matters: mayo.
Miracle whip or classic?
I like the classic olive oil one myself.

Oh I found this discussion to be thought provoking and informative for me at least. I know they can get heated but never too personal.
Also as far as mayo goes I'm a simple fuck who just likes that classic low fat shit mixed with sriracha, on a cheese sandwich.

Any topping that could be mistaken for cum that's been sitting out for a couple days is gross-gross (that's 144 gross).
With the one exception of Tzatziki.
