For some reason, I've always loved the look of those camo Vipers. Nice find!

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
High on Fire and Windhand are playing an early show AND a late show tonight in Brooklyn. BOTH shows are sold out. Unbelievable.
I guess I can't complain too much because I get to go see my friend's HM-2 style death metal band tonight right here in Jersey instead.

I pulled out the SD Blackouts which sounded so crappy you wouldn't even believe it and put in the only pickups I had laying around. Fortunately those were a Wolfetone Marshallhead II (which I got in some trade way back and then forgot about but then tried to sell on CL but forgot about again after it didn't sell in ten tries) for the neck and a '79 (allegedly) Super Distortion (from the Fuzz Face guitar) for the bridge. It is now the best guitar I have. I have never owned a more sustainy, resonant axe. It just feels so zippy and tight. Plus the dumbness of look is sure to bother the Musical Intelligentsia around here, so extra bonus!

I remember when I posted the 'relic'd' one that you were a camo supporter. Man, this thing is better than a dream. That Yamaha weighs 14 metric tonnes (<-metric spelling!) and includes a brass plate under the bridge to make it even more sustainy. Welp it doesn't even matter against this Viper. Shit is from another planet. Even our fussy singer was forced to admit that it rules beyond belief. He hates everything!

Yeah dude the light weight and the freakin neck on those things are what makes them.
So jelly.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Dawwwe, thanks you guys.
I had a talk with one of my specialists yesterday and she put my mind at ease a bit. I'll need a procedure performed on my trabecular mesh work, which previously I'd gathered from doing my own research, they keep you awake for. Which to me is pretty much the most terrifying shit ever, having to be conscious while they slice and dice your eye...no thank you.
However, she said the procedure I'll most likely get will be GA, praise Iommi. You can cut, hack and stitch whatever you want as long as I dont have to know about it. Which makes the whole thing million times less brutal.
We have pretty killer health insurance so even if I do end up going private the costs will mostly be covered, but there will still be a hefty gap and studying had left me with zero savings, so once I have an item number for the procedure I can call my insurer and see what the out of pocket will be. My first instinct is that I will still be selling most of my shit, but as you guys said, it's just stuff.
Plus once the op is done I can go back to living. I've been nailed to the couch for a month now and I'm a real miserable dick.
Ry summit, that made me giggle. I know I PMed you this, but when I first injured myself I had resigned to losing the eye, so I was considering patches or novelty glass eyes. Like a magic 8 ball eye, that would be fucking rad.
Holy shit Daz, that was like the most epic multi ever. Do you deliberately hold out on posting now to see how far you can push those?

Modern Oranges with the exception of the OR50 are EXTREMELY picky about pedals, dirt pedals, especially. That's the main reason I unloaded my Orange. I love love love the tone but there's no options if you want variation due to their fickle nature with pedals. Traded for an Ampeg v2 and I don't see myself looking back unless I'm looking at a vintage Orange like an OR80 or OR120.
I've had a Matamp made OR120, a Rockerverb 50, and a Matamp LX - they're gone and my Ampegs aren't. I'm always tempted to try again but I think I've been through enough of them to know they're just not for me.

On the flipped....
I played out of a Fender Quad Reverb last night with my Coven. I didn't fuck around with settings all that much. It belongs to a buddy of mine. I could really get into the tone of it clean but didn't have time to really dial it with my dirt. It did get really farty and buzzy at times but I think it would really benefit from a speaker swap. My buddy bought it, recently retubed, for $600 so it's not like it was a bad deal -- it sounds good, probably great for some of the loud post hardcore type shit he is doing. Did not work as well with the "heavy music for gear nerds and dungeons and dragons enthusiasts" that I've been writing.
That being said... found out I'll probably be getting a bonus coming up here so I think I'm looking for a head to compliment my RedBear MK60. I'm not sure really where I want to be with that though. Definitely need something loud, clean, and pedal friendly. I feel like I'm going to be buying a lot of amps and returning them just in order to try them out.
At my disposal to try I have a 5150, an Orange Rockerverb 50 and a Marshall JCM 2000 Dual Super Lead (50w). Not really sure that any of those are gonna do it for me but who knows. Anything I should be on the lookout for? New or old.
If aiming to pair with the redbear I'd say either the peavey or orange but both of those do have a fair amount more watts. If you willing to go outside of those three I'd say a Peavey VTM60 or Sovtek Mig50. Both of those are similar yet different enough to pair well with the redbear.
Yeah, those are just some amps that I have friends who own so I can test them out.
Definitely looking for pedal friendly. Will definitely keep my eyes peeled for VTMs/Butchers and Sovteks, me thinks.

I got an Ampeg SS140 last night for 30 bucks. Working condition, just lacking a head case which means I get to make a mauler ampeg.

Whatever, I'd play the shit out of that guitar. I still love my Schecter, even if it's tacky as fuck and has the stink of brocore all over it.

I'm not much of a phaser person so this'll be a shitty review but I have one and I think it's great. It can get so deep and slow and the 'bonus' knob is really cool. Bam, that's all I can even say lest I meander into bullshitting.t-rey wrote:So if the Orbiter can do that, I'm pretty sold.
I have to imagine the Gila Mondo could do that.

You don't sound like a jerk at all - you're being honest, which is admirable. I did it for my kid, and I'd do it again. Plus now my gear is in a room with a latching door, so she can't barge in and destroy the shit out of everything.
I'll have to give the Gila Mondo a look.
That guitar is so fucking awesome. I can only assume that it is easily going to bother the hip kids in town too

Who do you think you are, Whiskey?
Also, are any of you chaps interested in a white Twosome and/or a grey/green Whetstone before I list them in bst (...and then tgp)? Not sure if I will off the Whet, I'll have to pick up a phaser or two and spend some time picking one....

Hahahah - hoping that you would pop up so I could remember who had dibs on the Whetstone. I'm listening to clips and trolling various forums for a Grand Orbiter right now. I will pm you if shit works out and it's moving on :thu:
