Well Tony tap dancin' freakin' Iommi on a stick. Judging by the media, having kids is the super awesomest most fun thing on the planet and there are no downsides whatsoever. In fact, if you don't want to have kids and perpetually do family crap like watch Frozen, you are a freak and downright un-American.

Unfortunately, I know all too well from the life and death of my younger brother to know certain eventualities that can occur to a young human and dramatically impact all of those around.

That's a long story. But people act like pushing out a kid is all peaches and roses...it's not.

When I hear about another one of my friends becoming pregnant I hope to God that nothing is wrong with the child. It can be Hell if there is.

Do what you want in life, just know what the heck you're getting yourself into, that's my philosophy. People who rush into anything with their brains turned off (marriage, kids, jobs, school, etc.) usually are unhappy. People who do something who truly want to do so usually end up satisfied.

Yep. I feel like most people are fundamentally unhappy because they are doing what is expected of them instead of taking a few moments to evaluate what they actually want out of life.

I can't watch bullshit like How I Met Your Mother anymore because WHERE THE FUCK IS THEIR KID ALL THE TIME. People aren't out at the bar with their friends after they have a kid, I don't give a fuck if you have a billion dollars and a nanny, there is a certain instinct to stay home and protect that little shithead until they can fend for themselves.

Yea I'm all about doing what you want and knowing what you want. It seems too much that people like you said, rush into shit mindlessly, or stumble into their circumstances. What's almost annoying is the overall portrayal that if you don't breed then there is something wrong with you. Like something I read awhile back that was in the short of is saying our parents worked to hard to give us the best in life now that we are adults we don't want to do the same for our own offspring because we all are just super conditioned to having whatever we want. Basically making it that everyone is just misguided and should seek some help so they can see the light so to speak.

But yea every time I see that commerical I just see the breaking of a man.

With some sitcoms where shit is overexaggerated with problems with kids... it's more truth in those exaggerations than they want to admit. that, and hearing the horror stories from the other people I know and am friends with... amazingly I actually don't have too many friends with children. the ones I do have those children were accidents that lead to basic shotgun weddings, which they are either unhappy in cheating on their wives or are already divorced.

Fuck that - you've read my book and know that I think most people our age and a bit younger are shitheads, but I don't think people should use that to say we are being selfish assholes by not having kids. I'm actually a huuuuge fan of people not having kids for a couple of reasons - because if you don't want kids then you'd be unhappy and that's a shit sandwich for you and the kid, and (probably primarily) the less people that breed, the less overpopulated shit gets, and the better shot my kid has at a decent life

I agree. I feel I'm doing the fucking world a favor in not adding another consumption being.

Also I'm very interested in knowing more about this thing... Not the Kustom but what it's sitting on... the ELK ACT 2004

People definitely confuse what everyone else is doing with what they actually want for themselves.

I really need to read your book one of these days. It seems like everyone I come into contact lately is a special snowflake. And it doesn't matter the age either (although it is definitely more pronounced amongst the younger age groups).

I know some dudes who are genuinely all about having kids though. And that's cool. If the human race is going to go on one way or another it might as well be with the people who will take care of their kids and raise them right. Unfortunately, even a lot of people who want to have kids don't necessarily make good parents. Spend 5 minutes in any public place and you know what I mean. Oh well.

I know some people who are already making great parents. Their kids are lucky. But I worry about the other kids those kids are gonna end up in school with anymore.

It looks ugly enough to convince me it sounds awesome.

Ax, those old Datsun/Nissan Z models are so sexy. I am quite jealous.

You guys talking family/married life: Relationships are hard work, even before you get married. Kids just add that extra degree of difficulty. I was talking to my wife about this the other day and I think most people are just unprepared for how much hard work it is sometimes. You guys summed it up already, but anyone that thinks this life shit is gonna be a bed of roses from start to finish is either a fucking moron, or in for a huge disappointment. Like anything else WORTH DOING, relationships and families are hard work.

And I agree with all your reasons for not having kids as well.

Iunno, you guys are all sensible, we can have these conversations, I think we're all on the same page.

All that arrows talk in that other thread made me bust out my Emerald Prince again.
I may just keep that...we'll see.

yea it was just something about that commercial that irked me enough to say something.

side note, my marriage actually is amazingly simple. We both are on the same page about everything and recently we spoke about how simple shit has been and had a laugh at people who always say shit where they are strained or how hard it is to work at a relationship. I know all aren't that way. but it's been just amazingly great and simple.

Mos are badass. The band recently went trough some personnel changes, right after Flux did as a matter of fact. Tony Reed is a fucking stellar player, and is/has been the heart of Mos as long as I have known them. Sean Booth Joined Infinite Flux after Loco's departure, and about 2 weeks later was asked to join Mos. Sean is one of the most talented, down to earth guys I know. Total pleasure to have him aboard and I want to keep him around for as long as he can manage two bands. Drummer guy is new and I don't really know him but he did fine the show we had with them last month.

We went up and saw them do an acoustic set last night, then Mike Scheidt did his, and the Scott Kelly(and the road home) then Karma To Burn played. Mad amount of rad music on a tuesday night. Was a good fucking time. The place wasn't empty, but it wasn't packed, and I think Mr. Copeland and I went collectively broke on merchy stuff.

Mos is going to be on the Stoner side of the spectrum but the guitar

Hate to disappoint but at this stage, I'm keeping the L6 and the goal has been to arrest any rust, repair/replace what needs it, and get it running with as many oe parts as possible. I have my 73 bird if I need to get a 350 rumbling.
That said, part of the reason for buying it is the whole JTR v8 conversion stuff. For those who don't know, you can basically bolt a chevy engine and trans into a 2500lbs purpose built sports car and you basically have the car equivalent of a doom rig. Don't die if you pursue this folly!

So yeah, down the road when I can budget for it is another thing. Right now I have it almost fully back together, painted, engine runs, brakes need done, wiring and interior. Really close but zero time lately. Hope to have it done for summer.

I would have suggested a rotary instead of a V8.

But that's just me.

Back in the late 80s I owned a 76 Ford Cortina with a 289 Windsor motor. Fuck that thing was toey. Very hard to keep on the road. Didn't have it long. A lot of fun though, but would of doomed me to an early grave. Cars of doom.

Cortina of Fatal Velocity and Morbid Handling.

That would have been pretty fun, though.
