Damn no one doing anything now?? Summer's here! Let's lift!

I've lost track of what week I am in my whole bodybuilding endeavors. I have however decided on a show (I think). LOL. It's an untested show, but I'm doing natural. It will be a hard competition but I think I'll do well because a lot of guys have to do roids just to get to how big I am. At least that's what my coach says.

So far I'm at 193 lbs. Started at 212. So pretty good. I've dropped around 1lbs to 2lbs a week and retain all size except my waist and legs. My chest has gotten fuller, arms look bigger, definition coming through in places I've never seen without weighing 130lbs. It's crazy. I'm not sure what my body fat percentage is. If I had to guess, I'd say 11 to 12 percent. I still have work, but my contest isn't until November. I'm going to be a ripped motherfucker come time.

I'll be posting lots of banana hammock shots for you guys. DON'T WORRY. :)

Restarting my yoga regimen on Wednesday. I practice DDP Yoga. Yes, like the pro wrestler. It is really great and I always feel better when I do it. Time to drop some of this weight and get my gout under control.

I'm pretty sure that any day now some study will find that 90% of deaths in the US are caused by walking down stairs after squats.

I would image that's probably true. LOL

I'm still doing stuff! I've been distracted at the Doom workout thread.....

I'm getting stronger, slowly but surely, with my gymnastic strength stuff. Every couple-few weeks or so I can notice what seems like a size gain in my upper body. Some of my already-smaller shirts are going to be too tight soon. I've gone from barely being able to shakily do 3x3 dips on some DIY "rings" I made, to doing full 5x3s. The last set is a little tough still. I'm either going to aim for 6x3s, or 5x4s. Front and back levers are getting closer. I can do one-legged FLs, but only for like 5-10secs each side. The back lever practice is helping with the planche positions, too. The only thing I'm not seeing ANY real progress on is handstand pushups.

I've been doing either 3x3s in full handstand, or piking my body as high up as I can on my bookshelf and using my parallettes, doing 6x3s. I just want the strength so I can work on the reps, but I can't seem to break these numbers.

Lastly, I need some better lower body exercises. I've been doing pistol squats, now up to 6x1 and then 8x3 for each leg. The strength gain is nice (I started at 6x3s), but I can't help but wonder if there's something better I should do?

Anyone else have trouble keeping the sides of their body even? I do the same exercises with each side - and I do all weighted exercises with dumbbells so that I can't be compensating with one side. I don't even do more everyday tasks with my right side than my left. I usually carry things with my left, and I often even swap simple tasks between hands (computer mouse, writing, brushing teeth, etc.)

Despite all that, my right side is so much more muscular that the shirt I'm wearing right now which is loose on my left side, doesn't fit over my bicep on my right, and is awkwardly hiked up on my arm.

I was noticing the same thing today. I attribute it to the fact that we're probably doing more than we think with our dominant side, AND I wonder if the nervous system plays a role in that (or if that's just a bro-science myth)
:idk:

I'm sure it's nothing anyone else would notice unless we pointed it out to them.

Edit: Oh, and my "ring" dips have gone up another rep. I'm also trying out a slightly different split: doing bent arm exercises on one day, and legs and straight arm on the other, with no more than two workout days in a row.

My friend talked me into running a marathon with him next April. That gives me 10 months to crank up my nightly runs from 2-3 miles to marathon levels

I ran 7 miles slowly last night (which is my longest run ever)... my legs are tight, but I think I can do this! The hardest part is probably going to be finding new partners to run with as my runs get longer (my bro is in SoCal)...

I used to run 6,7,and 8 mile runs pretty regularly. I think most pros do one medium (3-5 miles) one long (6-8) and one REAL LONG run (10+) per week. Just give yourself at least a couple full days off (not necessarily two in a row) per week and you'll be surprised at how fast you'll stack up the mileage.

I need to start doing something about my midsection. i have a bit of a gut and some manboob action. No good. My wife is super hot especially for a mom, and I feel like a slob next to her. She gets attention from way better looking/more in shape guys than me, and I need to step it the fuck up.

No, no I don't have this. Haha. It's muscle imbalance. There's lots of ways to correct this, especially with evening out biceps.

So one trick to even out your arms is to do one extra set for your weaker/smaller side. So if you're doing single arm dumbbell curls, let's say it's your right arm that's weaker, 3 sets on the left, 4 on the right. This works very, very well. My biceps were initially uneven and it allowed my biceps to grow a half an inch.

Another way is controlled negatives. This will grow your muscles and help you get stronger. So single arm dumbbell preacher curls. Do a negative of 3 seconds or so, and a positive of one. Again, I would recommend an extra set for the weak side.

I do this for clients a lot and it helps. Even though you may not think you're compensating, you probably are with your forearms, shoulders and even your back. They are helping with the lift. So using a preaching curls especially, forces you to using only your biceps. Or a concentration curl.

I DO work in produce....

peelin' LOTS of bananas :erm:

Hey jwar, would negative/eccentric reps be good for me to gain some strength for my damn handstand pushups? I can do them much better on the floor, but I'm trying to get a deeper range of motion, so I've been using parallettes. Progress has been SLOOOOOOOOOOW.

Oh yea dude for sure. If you can pull them off in a negative. Hahaha. That sounds hard as hell. Negatives are great for getting real deep into the muscle tissue in places you don't normally hit. I've been doing them for months now and have seen massive strength gains as well as positive changes in my body appearance.

Cool. They are hard as hell. I just have to figure out how to cycle them in. I tried doing them a little more consistently in the past but I think my volume was too great, because my triceps' tendons were getting sore and "popping" during some of the reps. Maybe I'll try them again but only do them once a week or even with just lower reps. :idk:
