Dear Conkers,

You've been selected to receive a free, three issue trial subscription to our exclusive magazine, Riff Aficionado. Inside you will find reviews of the heaviest, most unobtanium, absurdly expensive muff clones; a recent feature discussing the Sunn investment boom; how to select a flametop that is beneficial for tone; along with lifestyle articles discussing the latest in the most elusive and skunky bud, cough syrup reviews, and why your jam room should be covered in shag carpet to accentuate your riffs. We sincerely hope you consider this offer and join our exclusive list of subscribers.

All the best,
The d00m bl00ze society.

Just busting your balls, dude  I've played some really nice PRS's - if it plays right, then fuck the stereotypes.

Nuthin wrong with a PRS, unless you play in a Santana covers band.

Good lord, that looks dangerous.

samzadgan wrote:so...here's a quandary...on my board a new spot will open up, since i'll take the Ghost echo off...and i want to put something to replace it.

I have tuner, wah, distortion, OD, Phaser, Delay/Reverb...what should i put in its place?

i dont need any dirt pedals, the QM and BF do everything i need. I dont want any crazy stuff (like pitch shifting, or bit crusher) as I dont really use it.

I do have a hummingbird i can put in there...which i havent used for a while

alternatively i can buy something new...maybe a looper? i play by myself mostly and it will be that way for a while as well...

any thoughts?

I'd go with some sort of fancy/versatile chorus or flanger. Or maybe tremolo. I have recently been looking at loopers though, since I'm in the same boat as you.

So we found the seat with two, footshaped clean spots on it and the rest of the toilet was covered in projectile diarrhea. Definitely the most disgusting toilet in the world.

New torche and Acid king makes a pretty good week.

My second band, Terrasone, finally finished the in house demo we've been working on. I'm not to happy with it, but it was turning into one of those things where people keep second guessing themselves and wanting to make revisions, at some point it needs to be declared done so here it is. Warning, not super doomy.

I dig this a bunch. I could just zone out and listen to this for like, hours.

AngryGoldfish wrote:Yeah, it's a LSTR with Pharaoh EQ section. It has more midrange and is fatter. If dark and fat is Doom, it's about as Doom as I think a pedal could be made without building a huge empty box with no holes.

Nice to see you around :hello: Can't wait to see/hear your Dunwich.

Yeah...me too. Not that I want/need a delay, but that's a fucking deal. Somebody talk to me about how well the looper on them works.

D, I know! I was blown away the first time I heard him do that, you wouldn't guess it from talking and hanging out.

One if these days I will have a badascan. I didn't jell with the lstr eq and the pharaoh I feel NEEDs to be stacked to get really hairy. Pretty happy with what I have though so it's harder to justify trying stuff just to try. I know I could always sell it on but I seem to be a hoarder. :)

Dude. Yeah, AxAxSxS, that track is definitely very fucking rad. Dude has a great voice. I wish I could do it like that... got a sort of psychedelic, weirdo-metal band with elements of fast/blackened type stuff and droplets of doom. Phaser and reverb and delay and fuzz, man. Voice like that would really hit it in some spots. Woof.

Also... Really want a Badascan, too. Maybe we can convince Mark to do a 2.0 version for the ILF Doom Room.

Hey folks. Im looking to put out a slightly cheaper 1 knob pedal set.

1 knob boost
1 knob fuzz
1 knob distortion

1 knob, 1 switch per pedal.

The distortion is based on the VT
the fuzz is based on the Fuzzthrone
and the boost is a hybrid (mixed SI and Ge) boost

For the distortion I am thinking of putting in trimmers for the distortion, bass, and treble on the pcb. Does this make sense for distortion? I think its fine to have no trimmers for fuzz but the distortion usually people like to shape this a bit more than fuzz

that looks awesome. i think trimmers for distortion eq are a great idea. a lot of people, myself included, are often happy just to set and forget that anyway, but still having some control to dial it in to your rig is a great idea.

also, what's the scoop on the production hm2? do you have a time frame in mind? that enclosure you posted on IG was awesome and got me all fired up.

One-knobbers look ace! Trimmers for set-and-forget settings on the distortion (and maybe a tone control on the fuzz?) are a great idea.

As long as they are a little wider than usual one knob deals (those fuckers tip easily when heavy footed people step on them).

What do y'all think about Aristides guitars? I'll never be able to afford one but the concept looks interesting.

Yeah that's why I don't drink Scotch.
And you should write for Boom Blooz Monthly.

Nick, that is a badass idea.
Definitely been hankering for a fuzz throne, this might bridge the gap on my budget.
WIll it get as gainy as the FThrone?
Basically, will it make me sound like John from Conan?

But seriously...

Trimmers for distortion is a good idea.

Also, Ax, I checked that track. For a demo, that was nifty.
Vox were good. I assume you guys are still feeling out lyrics and such?
Rough drafts on vocals are always cringeworthy, but that was fucking impressive.
Guit work was solid too. :thumb:

will the volt thrower run at 18v? Love my vt by the way, can't say enough good things about it. These should have folks salivating. I'm very interested in the boost. I'll be looking forward to deets and demo's.

Thanks man, the nice thing about that band is I just play the geetar and chill. I have input on things but it's a lot less my responsibility and not having to sing is badass.
Can't wait till march when we have our first show scheduled. These guys have been to almost all the flux shows and I get a guilty thing about how much fun I'm having with Flux and they haven't had a show yet. The whole project got set back by a drummer who went awol, but things are back on track and finally pulling together. Dudes are persistent, if nothing else, and it's been good to do this stuff with people who are as committed as that.

Nick, the 1 knob jobs are cool as fuck. The internal pots is a great idea. Im assuming these are MXR sized pedal (approx?), would you do them with top mounted jacks or side?

You should do a whole line up with compressor, reverb, phaser and 1 knob eq, which would be tone knobe with a 3 way switch that does a bass boost/bass cut
