Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I don't even have to check. Everything Thou has done I've pretty much been a fan of. Though still their first album is still my favorite and Smoke Pigs is still their best song.

I was thinking you were talking about Released from Love
also on that note I went and purchased it.
Yeah the cd from Thrill Jockey has both on one album (I missed Released from Love when it came out last year) in chronological order. It is fucking amazing, even for Thou (I like it a lot more than Heathen, tbh). I still think they're way better live, though.
At some point I have to listen to The Body again but I remember putting on one of their records and having to immediately turn it off because it was too close to the music I wanted to make at the time, and it was way better than whatever I would've mustered.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
I actually do like it more than Heathen as well. I didn't even notice it contains released from love on the cd. I purchased the cd cause I always prefer that over vinyl cause i'll actually listen to the cds far more than the vinyl. Always have always will.
The body to me has some decent stuff, but not a ton of decent stuff. a lot of it I find is filler or just boringly painfully not crushing. might be 'loud' but no crush.

Agreed: vinyl for collecting, cd for listening.
I'm a real sucker for filler, what can I say?

PRS are fuckin great...i tried a few SE's and they played better than most things i've bought. I still dont know why i dont own the Bernie Marsden sig SE...that thing was lovely to play and sounded pretty damn good too.
I'm thinking of getting a USA PRS Custom 24 for teaching. It's almost the perfect tool for that. I think I'd be better off with a Suhr or Tom Anderson, but PRS are more readily available.
Todd (our guitarist that I mentioned earlier) got his 2013 Custom 24 on clearance for like $1200 and I gotta say the neck is super comfortable, sustain is killer, and the stock pickups just plain rip. If your looking for a high quality guitar thats not horrendously expensive and perfect for a large variety of styles I would say these would make a great choice. And I personally really like the PRS body style with a carved top. It looks and feels right when sitting or standing, while most guitars usually only do good at one or the other.

yea pretty much like that though I will listen to my vinyl. I mainly buy it if something isn't on cd, if I come across it cheap, or if it's a band I really enjoy.
I don't mind filler but theirs just seem like dick teases to something that's going to be awesome and then it just disapates into nothing and no crush is brought. another dick tease starts up instead.

They may extremely good quality stuff, but that price is really cheap, they are much more expensive over here...but the SE range is really good too, kills most other guitars in the same price range...I've very recently been tempted by a local trade...a guy wants an SG standard for his SE Marsden sig model...i would get about £250 cash on top...if my SG wasnt a p90 one i probably would have done it, but i find myself not wanting to let go of it cause standards with p90's are not that common...

Was it a core series Custom 24 with the proper German carve or was it the S2 Custom 24 with the bevelled top? I can't find an original Custom 24 for anything less than €2000 over here. The S2 line is looking pretty handy, though, as it's almost €1000 quid cheaper. I've heard mixed reports about it, though, so I'd definitely try it out before I buy. I'd prefer a Suhr or Tom Anderson, but they're harder to come by and they're often more expensive.

Yeah its not surprising considering we live less than 50 miles from the factory hahaha
I'd keep the p90 SG hands down. Its such a different flavor compared to your other guitars.

I believe its the german carve, I texted him to double check. I know its got the newer pickups with the flat / rectangular bobbins and the two small metal pieces instead of screws. I'm not 100% on the details but it definitely sounds sick stock.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
The day I pay 2 grand for a guitar is the day that I start shitting out pure gold. I've played a number of super high-end guitars and just don't see any reason to spend that kind of cash. Oh well. Whatever floats yer boat. I'll be over here playing "cheap" gear if anyone needs me.

misterstomach wrote:i wish i had the skrilla for one of those head rushes. $69 for a brand new one is killer. i don't need another delay really, but that seems like a really cool pedal, and at that price you just can't lose. if i weren't having to buy a nail gun in the next few days, i'd hit that for sure.
That tape delay setting is SO GOOD. Regardless of price. The fact that these are dirt cheap really pushes it over the top. The digital delay is very nice too. I've never even used the looper function!
