I can't remember the last time I used a battery in a pedal.

I'm starting to loathe the Internet.

Except for this:

I understand what you're getting at, but it's only incongruous to me if you think that you have to do everything or nothing. I don't workout every day, but it doesn't make going for a 20 minute walk every couple of days pointless to my overall health. If someone was rabid and aggressive about the same thing in my same situation, I would probably mock them too. I feel the same way about people trash talk hunters and then eating Taco Bell, because factory farming is so worse for animals than killing a few for sport. For some people it's more about seeming concerned than doing better or sometimes just putting down other people. I'm not aggressive or insistent about the battery thing though, not preaching at all. I'm just the kind of person that believes if there's something small that bothers you, that you think you can improve on, it's better to do something small than do nothing. It's not as if I have to be one extreme or the other, I'm fine with moderation and as you say, picking my battles.

I'm with you on the no batteries in pedals. I know pedals do sound better, but being a friend to the planet is becoming more important to me. We don't own this planet no matter how much property we buy. We are just leasing it from our future generations. If kids happen for me and the missus, I want them to have a decent planet to live on. I'm actually saving money to buy some decent passive pickups and get rid of the active circuits in my basses too. Sure they are just small things to help the environment, but all the 1%s eventually add up to 100%. We collect water in tanks and also use less mains water too. We grow our own fruit and vegetables. And minimise driving to just the essential trips. Earth Doom

I know most of you dudes obviously want to blare your amps as loud as possible, but I've got a THD Hot Plate (4 ohm) in the BST if anyone is interested. I'm cleaning out my long term gear storage and found some stuff I forgot I even owned, so obviously I'm not using it.

I bought the 4 ohm because I always had newer type Marshall cabs (which run 4 or 16 in mono) for the better part of a decade. Now not only do I never really use it anyway, but I don't own any 4 ohm cabs anymore. I used the crap out of it before I started using fuzz pedals and when I recorded bands regularly.

Environmetal. Green Doom.

My plans to go off grid hinge on generating enough power to run all the rigs as often and hard as required.

Pick your battles, ofc.

Not trying to pick a fight or anything, but I hate that attitude. Just because something else is worse, doesn't mean it's stupid to do something small that's good. I'm not saying you're a bad person for using batteries, that's fine. It's not my main reason, but I think about it. I'm not out in my back yard shoveling coal into a fire pit every weekend, nor am I hammering spikes into trees in logging territory and protesting Monsanto or something, it's just a little issue that's on my mind enough to change a small habit.

Agree 100%. Little things add up and there's no logical reason to be a nazi about anything, for or against.

I don't water my plants every day so I should never water them and let them die?

Sometimes I exercise and drink water and sometimes I sit on the couch and drink beer so I should just give up and always drink beer? ... wait.
