Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
My wife was not into metal either...she liked her Alternate rock type stuff....which i dont mind.
But she is cool as fuck, because she's always come to gigs and festivals and stands by me as i headbang my neck into oblivion...and never complained.
Ofcourse, i accompany her to her gigs too...so i guess we got a good compromise going

Beast in the Field freakin' rules the universe. Can't really think of another band I like seeing more.
I have never seen them, which is very strange considering the fact that I am friends with the guitarist and lived a couple miles from his record store. Cool as shit dude.

They're playing in town tomorrow night but I went to Andrew WK last night and tonight I'm headed south of Chicago for beer and metal so I'm staying home with the wife.

It really is the perfect match. I moved shit around in my jam room again, basically getting prepared with what's leaving... 4 cabs for customers and some heads for repair.

Myself, Daz, Ryder and Mike, in the same room for the evening and I gotta say, shit was pretty badass.
The DR's power manifesting upon the unknowing in a gratuitous display of heavy. I gotta meet more of you guys in person. Great things tend to happen.

I know some of you guys are lukewarm on the more straightforward Kyuss-y side of things, but Cortez might've been louder than Sleep (proportional to the room. Sleep at the HoB was pretty quiet. Sleep at Union Transfer remains one of the loudest shows I've ever seen). Mesa Rectos are the best gear for doom. Their heaviness is definitely unrepresented on record, or at least I don't remember their album sounding that gnar.
These jams in particular were super rad. FFO: Corrossion of Conformity, Kyuss, Motorhead.

I quite like the second track there, but the song on the split was a bit meh for me.

When you were talking about Cortez I thought you were talking about the French metalcore band who are very good. Don't like this DC band just based on that.

Dude- great fuggin' show. Was bummed that Mos Generator had to cancel, but stoked that you guys could fill the slot. Awesome, as always.

I gotta figure out a way to steal Sean back. To much fun playing with that guy.
We need to get Ex-Gods up to jooniors or film a show or two and splice something together. you seriously crushed Tacoma last night. I don't even know how to adequately describe it. Just badass.

Like I said, the recorded output doesn't measure up. But from At the Gates to Zao all letters of the metalcore alphabet suck. IMO, YMMV, etc.
