Are we allowed to add the amp wattages together, or do we have to adjust for the amount of speakers they're driving as well?
Time to run full statistical analyses.
Break out yo MANOVA!
What about hybrid rigs utilising bass and guitar gear, or SS and Tube (tube watts have a different exchange rate to SS watts. And Russian wattsare different again)?
I'd also like to point out that skully runs a micro setup and that guy is doom as fvck.
I feel like this is the wrong direction to take this theory in.
I think what we may actually need to be looking at is a way of quantifying the effect a riff has on an individual.
Wherein doom factor is calculated as a percentage of the compound effect tritones have on riffing, in conjunction with elements of harsh noise, low tunings and perceived misesry of listener.
So, maybe: %Doom = (TTxR)+(H+L)/Misery
So now we are starting to talk totality of the listening experience. I think the initial formula is still valid and should be expounded upon. So now we have f(z) z+(X/10) x Y. %Doom= ((TTxR)+(H+L)/M)z

I enjoyed their set and even bought the Clarity single but when I listen t home I just can't get into it. What is their best stuff that I should start with? I've been at home sick all day and tried watching a bunch of their shows on youtube and I couldn't get 10 minutes into it before I had to find something else to listen to. Help me out so's I can keep my doom cred.
Get Sleep's Holy Mountain. It's the one that has Dragonaut on it. You're basically trying to get into Isis by starting with the Melvins split, as it were.
Holy Mountain is THE Sleep song if ya ask me.

Also, the problem with the formula logic is that formulas are for fucking posers. It's in your heart and it's in your ears, otherwise you should just go be a music journalist or some other douchey shit.
Not saying anything about anyone here or anything. Just making sure we don't lose sight of what's real.
So f (d) where d=douche factor as an percentage of 1 with zero indicating the greatest dearth of redeeming qualities. heart + ears ≈ talent(t)expressed as a percentage of 1 with a value of zero indicating a total dearth of talent %Doom= ((TTxR)+(H+L)/M)zdt
Note that now it is possible to fulfill all other doom criteria but if a zero value is entered for douche factor or talent factor there will be zero doom.

Yeah, definitely wanna know about the boneshaker.
Congrats dude!
BUT EVERYTHING MUST BE QUANTIFIED.

Conky, not even the Druid or Aquraian?

rad for TONY!!!!!!!
the interesting thing here is that the formula will be useless for talentless douchebags.
Ancient Astronaught wrote:Okay so I think I have finally figured out the formula to determine whether or not your amp is doom acceptable.
*Disclaimer* This formula is designed for tube amps.
Legend:
X= Amp wattage
Y= Amp Volume
Z= Amp acceptability
Formula:
(X/10) x Y = Z
Samples:
100w on 8
(100/10) x 10 = 80%
30w on 4
(30/10) x 4 = 12%
50w on 6
(50/10) x 6 = 30%
200w on 10
(200/10) x 10 = 200%
It seems to work out, don't ya think?

As previously brought up, this does not account for the radness of multi amp rigs, I believe I have a solution.
If (X/10) x Y = Z a dual amp rig should be equal to Z/2+Z Triphonic 2(Z/3)+Z Quad 3(Z/4)+Z and so on. We'll call this awesome and express as A
Wherein doom factor is calculated as a percentage of the compound effect tritones have on riffing, in conjunction with elements of harsh noise, low tunings and perceived misery of listener.
f(d) where d=douche factor as an percentage of 1 with zero indicating the greatest possible dearth of redeeming qualities. heart + ears ≈ talent(t)expressed as a percentage of 1 with a value of zero indicating a total dearth of talent
%Doom= ((TTxR+A)+(H+L)/M)zdt ∪ Matt Pike
