So it looks like the Daredevil Black Yorba and SUF Green Russian are the two front runners.

I can't see anything that says the Yorba is a bubbleh fonteh, and the only words used are "early 90's" which would be the talleh fonteh.

Fredric is also a tall font.

btw, the bubble font is dirtier and has more low end than the tall font, in the event that you're thinking I'm a crazy person. And yes, at 200 watts and 2 4x12s, you can tell the difference.

With that kind of rig you can definitely tell the difference in gain and low end. I've also heard that the bubble font is gainier with more low end, I thought the rams head had the most gain though.

I already think you're a crazy person, but that's good to know about the two. This is my first time hearing about Daredevil, but they seem fairly legit (insofar as that goes).

Rams Head is definitely the gainiest, but the Triangle has the most low-end to my ears.

(also I like the Black Russian better than the green. Sue me).

I still say rehouse it. Danny W will do a really good job on it, and you can keep the original enclosure and have him stick it back in if you ever wanna sell it. :idk: That's what I would do, at least.

Thats why I had Nick build the muff side o my synth fuzz to triangle specs. :yay:

This is what the net has to say about Tall Font vs Bubble Font:

Version 7C GREEN RUSSIAN BIG MUFFS - Tall Font and Bubble Font Versions (Russia circa 1994) - Early 'tall font' Green Russians, the first edition, are identical to the Civil War version described above. The second and third edition Green Russians with the 'bubble font' have a bit more grit and bite, less bass, and most have more sustain than the Civil War version, but they are not as smooth sounding. Less gain, fatter bottom end, and brighter mids than most vintage USA Big Muffs. The bass and treble of the tone varies slightly from unit to unit, but the differences are usually minor. They are a favorite of bass players due to the low gain and huge, bass friendly bottom end they produce. That bottom end is also a reason some do not like the Russian Big Muffs. Listen to the Black Keys for some great examples of the Green Russian in use.

There's also the inevitable variation between pedals ( large-company quality control for the win).

Civil Wars do roar like no tomorrow, though.

Big muffs are the best.

Yeah on that KitRae page I quoted, pretty much every muff version before 1990 he says that component values fluctuate wildly, to the point where they varied on a daily to weekly basis production wise.
