Hahaha, when I was writing the first post I was debating of whether I gave the sense that I got it or not.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
What most people refer to as hipster metal lacks authenticity. It attempts to create metal at a distance, taking the most palatable hallmarks of the genre and repackaging it in a format that is less weird/offensive/METAL. To some, the intent and authenticity of the artist does not matter, but it matters to me.
There is a difference between a hipster metal band and a metal band that lots of hipsters like. I like Pallbearer, because to my ears they are just a traditional doom band with lots of melody, but I can see why people who don't normally like metal or doom specifically would be drawn to them.

I hate it when people call Sunn O))) hipster metal. I get that it isn't everyone's cup of tea, but SOMA and Greg Anderson have been putting out great content for too long to be lumped in with all that.
I am not fond of The Sword though. I saw them live and every song sounded the same.

because they are hip.
I actually find them boring as shit and non-offensive in the most vanilla way possible.
But I agree SUNN isn't hipster. I think hipsters are attracted to say they like them because it further removes them from the general listening public. Only so when someone goes... oh I can't believe you listen to this it's just noise they can say that they just don't understand.
same reason some people like whitehouse or musica concrete. there are some that honestly enjoy it and then there are some that like telling people it's what they like just for the same of saying so.
the sword's first album I enjoyed and saw them on that album and it was enjoyable. I already knew they were all from indie rock bands prior and I think the bassist and drummer were both in Pirates of Darkwater which was sorta spastic noodly .. hardcore I guess?
oh and deafheaven is just shitty screamo. to me when i've sampled them a few times... it's straight up not good screamo... I can't see how people honestly think it has black metal in it at all. It's like calling slipknot death metal because they both have double bass work and distorted palm mutes occassionally.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
Had two amps up for sale for a couple weeks, reasonable prices I think (middle of the going rate at least), and they're just not moving. I sure as hell need the money, but I'm considering just pulling them and keeping them now. Might be another 3-6 months before I get the insurance money from an auto accident that selling these babies was going to cover.
What do you guys think? Hang in and sell em or say fuck it and hold on? It's a Traynor YBA-1 and Peavey VTM-120. I haven't even been in a band for a while and I usually play bass when I do, so I honestly don't need em, and still have other stuff left. I don't keep shit to flip it later, so I don't care about if they're going to keep going up in value, I just want em because they sound cool.

Bought tickets to Neurosis today and got a notification that my Apple Watch will be here the day after my birthday, so that's cool.

I saw the traynor. I sold mine for 400.

I normally say hold on to em since you enjoy them. But i'm kinda interested in that VTM.
