Can't go wrong with a Dimarzio P-90 Super Distortion. If you can do gold, get a/ pair of GFS Wild Dog mini-humbuckers. Esp if it's for that Dillion SG copy. I had a similar Korean SG copy, and the Wild Dog made that dull-dark guitar sound stupid awesome.

The pickup color doesn't matter so much. That Dillion SG is going to be the platform for a rather intense refinish, and I'm going to end up painting or altering just about everything. I've heard good things about the Wild Dog, but will that fit in a soapbar slot?

GFS makes adapters for mini-hum to soapbar, often they include them with the pickup.

Just to go back to this, if you start watching it here (gotta link it 'cause timestamp)

You will hear the phrase "final statement on metal." uttered unironically.

I actually really enjoyed the lecture though. Nice find.

yeah...that statement pissed me off...I dont think O'Malley was too keen on that either.
the whole thing was quite enjoyable...the funniest thing I found was that his record label has this woman from Seattle (Jessika Kenney) who sing persian folk music. So I was listening to her stuff all night. She's actually really good...before listening to it i thought its some western attempt to try and sing like us, but she's actually quite genuine and she does a really good job. The compositions aren't extremely persian, and there is some other influences in there, which makes it fresh, but her voice and singing style is spot on!

More to the point I hate red bull academy, but it was interesting to see them give the young man and his noises a go.
Yeah totally it's just funny, that's all.
I like Sunn but I think a lot of their catalog just makes me want to listen to Lustmord.
Yeah, basically, just one of these odd cultural crossover phenomena that we're seeing more of these days.
I didn't watch the whole thing but it is definitely on my list to get to. It looks like an interesting format and it would be cool to see what he says to a crowd like that, whom it seems are relative outsiders to that sort of scene.
Definitely going to check out that Persisn folk.

if you like Jessika Kenney...let me know, i'll send you some links to some real stuff too...in my older years i find that more of musical influence is coming from persian music than metal!

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition

I love most Middle eastern and African "world music" sort of traditional stuff.
I dunno what to call it, folk is sort of apt but not quite. And the WM moniker shits me because it usually carries some awful fusion/food beats, fisherman pant wearing, eccie dropping hippie connotations.
I'll often listen to ABC classic FM in the hope they'll have some nice Arabic guitar piece from the Gregorian Brothers on.
Every now and again I'm rewarded.
Things that are not very soon but are still awesome.
Carry on.

This. But I think the Wild Dog was made before they started the mini-buckers w/ p-90 covers thing... I had to dremel out tiny channels for the pickup tabs. Took 5 minutes, so if you have to it'll be a minor part of a complete refin. Ask GFS first though.

I put one a them dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge of a soapbar equipped LP special. I dig it, but I'm not all that picky.

I also had that soapbar-sized Dimarzio Super Distortion in a guitar once. I really dug it. The guy I sold it to said it would get kind of unruly in his old Orange when he cranked it though. Never had that problem myself...?
