Bit Crushers/Sample Rate Reducers--pedals and "desktop units," what do we have?

Iron Ether FrantaBit
Dr. Scientist BitQuest
WMD Geiger Counter (though the BC and SRR can get buried under a tonne of other destruction techniques)
Montreal Assembly Wrong Side of Uranus
Alesis Bitrman (same)
Korg Kaoss Pads
BugBrand Bugcrusher
TSP Downgrade
Frostwave Sonic Alienator
OTO Biscuit (which has morphed into a synth)
Roland/Boss Samplers
Red Panda Bitmap and Bitcrusher Tonecore module
Hexe Bitcrusher
Malekko Omicron Bit
Ibanez PM7 kinda
FreqBox Sonic Bits
Mooer Lofi Machine
Catalinbread Heliotrope
Greyscale Devices Caligula
Strymline and Mobius
Zoom MS50 and 100
Source Audio Nemesis (I think)
Noisemaker Effects Arcade (not sure on this)
LuckDuck 8 Bit Duck (but I heard bad stories about the builder)
Digitech Space Station mebbe?
Harvestman Empty Vapor Quiver

Hah--that did go on--can't be that many more out there, but let me know ok?

have you tried a adsr from a synth app, i think it can get you close, but i guess you want the delayed signal to have some sort of the instrument you are playing, to process/play a role in the trigger not only an external source that you will also need to focus/control

the dd600 has external tempo http://www.behringer.com/assets/dd600_p0533_m_en.pdf

I'll let lordgalvar answer on dsd trigger.

Thanks for the info on the DD600--on the list! (seems like a DD-5 clone?)

DD-5 is my favorite Hold function delay. I rehoused modded mine but sold it in a time of $$ need. Ya, the DD600 looks like a DD-5 clone.

I just got a broken DD-2 for $20 that I got working (waiting on a new Mode pot). Once I mix it, I'm hoping the Hold is like the DD-5, seems so in the demos. DD-3 Hold isn't like the DD-5 but you can pitch shift the Hold with the DD-3.

I also have a Digidelay on my board which has a cool Hold mode. You can do the same stuff as with the DD-5 but the Digidelay has overdub capabilities. Similar to the DD-6.

The DD-5 is still my fav cause of the control you can have with capturing the notes in Hold mode.

I also have a DOD DFX-94 which has a cool sampler/hold mode. It's not a looper in the sense that you can set the length of the audio captured. The Delay Time dictates how much audio is sampled and repeated. The trim pots can be tweaked to yield more delay time.

 dat post ^^^

There's a really cheap DD600 for sale that I wouldn't mind rehousing, though I've never done it with one of these fancy pants pedals with their multilevel boards and multifunction integrated soft switches....

Was it hairy? Did you go with a larger enclosure and tbp it?

I really love the sound of the glitchy looping you can get with the DD2. Early DD3s are identical from what I understand.

The tap tempo input on the DD5, which can be manipulated with fantastic results a la lordgalvar's demo, has got me looking at scoring one of those. Actually, I'd love a delay that featured the hold/warp functions of the DD2/3/5 & 6, and it looks like Boss is going to deliver in the DD500, though it won't be able to faithfully replicate the sweet digicrunch of the originals, I'm sure....

Love the sound of all the DFXs.

Really looking forward to trying some tap-tempo-in glitch with a Marshall Echohead--the crusty, grainy filter mode is (unintentionally) crap-fi and would sound great glitching.

Tangent alert--does anybody know what tech is in the MASF Raptio? Love the texture of the repeats, and to my ears they sound none too much like the Possessed.... Raptio is crisper, glassier, and Possessed is grainier and grungier, imho....

OK, so thinking through sources for crackly backgrounds got me thinking on whether I could reverse engineer something by decimating the output from a drum machine and blending it with my signal. This lead me to think of my Adrenalinn which has been collecting dust since I've been all reverse cork sniffery. Sure enough, you can route the drums through the fx. :joy:

I'm gonna have an explore with distortion and stuck manual flange and eq filter and see if I can come up with something suitably small and distant and broken and alien enough to layer with my other noise. I wonder how random I can get those linndrums to sound. Maybe add some bitcrushing/sample-rate reduction post Adrennalinn.

Plus, bonus, I can also use the Adrennalinn to trigger my delays.

Feeling maybe not so luddsimple right now.

Is this one of you?

And if it is, how does one turn an Ibanez Tone-Loc pedal purple without defacing all of the proprietary labelage?

I feel like there is potential here...in some way.

I know the PDD is noisy as heck.

I saw one of those distortions go cheap on the Bay. I wonder if the delays go for many shekels....

For 40 I'd hit it; cheapest I'm seeing right now is $75.

Not sure the midi control does anything in real time, though automated patch switching could be good and glitchy....
