Do you guys take it black or add milk to pour-over? Also does anyone have it cold?

On a few occasions ive added a scoop of vanilla ice cream to mine, and its been spectacular!

I always drink black. Raptorwife enjoys pour-over with milk, but it depends on the beans really. Some of the really floral stuff can get wack with milk.

Blaaaaaack. I can do like a flat white or something sometimes, though. But mostly black.

cant do caps, not enough coffee for me...if i'm out I get a double shot flat white with almond milk. Lactose intolerant and Oat milk fucks with my gut too...but local cafe's are stopping use of almond milk due to sustainability and dont mention soy, that tastes gross...what the fuck else is there?

Coconut is great for milky coffees. Depending what brand they use, some of it tastes coconuty and some kinda doesn't, both are good but I don't always want a coconut flavour - fun treat when I do though it's actually super delicious. There's also rice milk which is pretty neutral and sweet though I don't see it at coffee shops really... Maybe it doesn't foam great or something, but at home it goes nice in drinks because it just has a mild slightly sweet taste.

I am in a similar boat hahaha - I started having some very unpleasant gut issues with various plant milks (after happily drinking lots for years??) last year, and I was hypothesising it might be the additives. For the first time in like 6 months I bought some this week, cos I found some soya milk with no additives at the store, and it tastes good and is not destroying my stomach so I'm pretty stoked. Or maybe just whatever was going on with me has magically sorted itself out? :idk:

I don't really hate soya milk though :idk: the taste can become a biiit much in a milky coffee though. Normally I just drink black/espresso.

i've had pretty good luck with oat milk (been telling myself that it's a reasonably good choice for minimizing environmental impact too, but idk because wishful thinking usually indicates magical thinking). not sure if it's contributing to any gastric distress, since gastric distress is my life :idk: dairy has never been an option - apparently i had to be tossed in the icu as an infant because my weak, tiny body shrieked in rage at the formula they tried on me....:erm:

I've actually been cutting back on the coffee quite a bit to try and help with focus at work. Down to ~1/2 cup coffee in the morning and a black tea in the afternoon if I need it. Weekends I still like to enjoy one though :)

I started using a simple pour-over cone (cheap one made from ceramic, with a small round hole at the bottom). It's simple and easy. But I'm getting annoyed because the paper filters burst open sometimes, dumping all the grounds into my mug. I tried folding the bottom of the paper filter and even that doesn't work sometimes. Filter failure seems kind of random - before I started folding them, I went for weeks without my first filter breach. Now I'm looking at stainless steel mesh cones on Ebay, but not sure what to get, maybe because I don't believe a $10-15 coffee filter is really made with stainless steel. Suggestions?

Edit: these are Melitta paper filters, the 2 cup size. Now that I think about it, maybe the unbleached paer ones are weaker than the bleached paper ones? Or maybe I think that only because the unbleached ones are what I usually buy.
