Adobe did put out an advisory for flash use to stop. I don't believe youtube uses flash anyway.

But videos are working fine for me on mobile. This happened to some people (me included) about a year ago. :idk:

Youtube embed videos have been fucked up in some way or another for me for probably 6-7 months. Now I can't view them at all.

I honestly wonder if the site is being overloaded by them. I mean, there is a LOT of youtube videos posted here.

Yeah, I still can't view them today.

I think the reason the forum might be overwhelmed is because the forum software is getting old. It might be time for an update?

YouTube videos are our bread & butter. Can't really avoid posting a lot of 'em. :idk:

Did this problem resolve itself last time lots of folks were having it?

Chrome seems to work fine.

But I agree we really need an upgrade. If the footer is to be believed, the software hasn't been updated in almost 10 years. That's crazy. Which means that were running phpbb either 2 or (more likely) 3.0. Phpbb 3.2 is just about to be released, with the RC being out already, so that's a high time to upgrade. I mean, if anything, know that 3.0 has no support anymore, so we are pretty unprotected from attacks.

And don't even get me started on any of the other (lighter and more feature-packed) alternatives to phpbb, which I realized are not ideal for archival reasons.

I'm pretty sure the forum software was updated a few years ago. :idk:

I'm on a Mac. So, I'm using Safari. Probably not gonna switch browsers even if this continues to be a problem. :idk:

I'll just be even crankier than usual. :grumpy:

Yeah, definitely seems like it could just be some browser incompatibility.

Still not working with Chrome. NBD. Quote post, double click to highlight inactive hyperlink text, right click and select "go to _"
A minor inconvenience :idk:

^ It's a Flash combined with Safari for OS X problem. No issue on iOS because iOS has never used Flash - it's all HTML5. Flash is old hat and HTML5 is the future and newer versions of Safari will disable it by default.
So, if you use Safari on OSX (or macOS or whatever they call it now), you can either change the user agent in the browser so the website thinks you're on an iPad/iPhone: http://osxdaily.com/2013/01/16/change-u ... i-firefox/
Or you can download an extension that will force embedded videos to use HTML5 instead of Flash: https://hoyois.github.io/safariextensio ... ktoplugin/
I've used Click2Plugin for years. Unfortunately it's been discontinued but it still works fine. Install that and everything will be fine.

I just tried the easier of Horsey's fixes, changing the user agent, and it works when navigating away from the forum, but not on the forum itself (unless I need to restart my computer or something). :idk:

So, maybe it's time to either download that extension or a different browser? :idk:

Y, Safari, Y?
