That episode premise was almost exactly like an idea for a movie I had years ago.

Ameboa music has an incredibly vast, if not overwhelming, selection of music and I found some good shit after some searching. But what the fuck is this charging $10-12 for a used cd shit? Like, not special editions or imports or double albums either. I guess they're making bank cuz they know people will come to browse. They did have a pretty extensive $1-2 clearance section though. Meh.

$10 for a used cd is pretty boned. The used place here is freaking $3 unless marked otherwise.
Granted, it's not Amoeba.

That's called paying for rent in San Francisco. Rasputin is worse (and a pain to get around). It is just fun to go look. The one in LA is a little cheaper but I usually find some cheap gems in the 7" records for a resonable price (around $3). More fun just to go look and wonder how much of a horde those people with full carts of records live in at home. If I do pick up a used CD there (well at the one in LA) it is in the 3-7 range and usually mildly hard to find in good condition (out of print stuff).
Just something to do.

I almost posted a pic on Facebook for National Dong Day but then I realized I'd misread something.

that sucks, my local CD place sells used CDs for $5 usually. it's actually probably the only thing in Denton that is really sick.

When I moved from the Central Valley, my mustard was $0.75 more in LA. Cheese was $1 more. Same brands and everything. I'm just from two hours North. Sales tax is 4% higher and my truck tags cost $50 more here. San Francisco can be worse.
Amoeba is also banking on convenience and casual listeners. Still, its the best we got for a used store. Radiation in the OC is a great store with good prices (puke n vomit distro). Headline is even more expensive than Amoeba (but it is on Melrose).
This one hipster place was selling a beat 10 notes on a summers day for 60. I couldn't believe it

Is it just me or are all those Coffee and Riffs videos starting to sound alike?

All the ones with guitarists always sounded alike.
step 1. ambient pad with volume control swell chords
step 2. simple bass line with some octave down and a little bit of overdrive
step 3. major or pentatonic noodle
step 4. consider stepping on the crazy pedal in the chain
step 5. do not step on the crazy pedal
