yeah - I don't know whether I'm concerned with getting a potential savings, or avoiding that sinking feeling when i find out I missed out on a discount when one was available

edit, later:
so I dug a little deeper and browsed through the 207 hand-picked deals in EBay's Music and Gear sale category. :/
I tried a handful of seemingly legit ebay codes but nothing worked for me.

Right?!?!? Like isn't this supposed to be the Bigly Great Depression happening now where people are selling pedals for pennies on the dollars just to feed their family? WTF people?

The reality of this is few and far between, which for the whole of the world (at least in terms of gear selling people) is probably a good thing. Had the aliens finally arrived and sucked up all the crude oil from the ground, maybe a window of opportunity would've followed (big maybe if you're into modular, but I also would assume aliens are in control of all those Mannequins modules that are going for almost 2x the regular, in-stock price), but most sellers are pricing high. Fees have also gone up for most reselling sites (and in some cases shipping standards, too), and those prices are reflective of both that and the drying up of whatever is still available.
But as far as I can tell, I usually get what washes up after the Next Big Cool New Expensive Device is announced and released for far more than the predecessor, though new products and releases have been significantly impacted by this whole thing, and hence the drying up of any deals without that usual back & forth - like commuter congestion, it just isn't happening!
Also, some people are bored and somewhat flush (again, at least in terms of your typical Reverb seller/buyer/clipper/dipper), which is why some things are just going for crazy prices (and if you have the gumption to blow 2K on a musical doohickey instead of food or shelter in this climate, well, I just don't know what to tell you). I know I also say this while my neighbors are currently igniting their own version of WWIII via multiple hundos worth of fireworks (and the sun hasn't even set yet), but we're all doomed.
And also, the eBay codes are probably not going to happen for a while, because of all of the above (and also because they pissed off too many sellers during last year's wave of coupon deals). And if they did, you could always hook up that refurbished vacuum to your Marshall stack, if the need ever arises (I would suggest an EQ pedal, in addition, though).

Unemployment is 11% right now which is pretty damn high but there are millions and millions of folks still collecting their usual paycheck and buying toys because they're a source of entertainment while you can't do anything else. And a big chunk of that 11% are making more on unemployment than they were making at their real jobs. Plenty of my service/entertainment industry friends are buying more gear than ever because their living costs are low and their current income is high.

...and unemployment tosses an extra $600 still weekly until the end of the month.

I was going to tell you to give in, as that pedal is wonderful (not just for the chainsawz)...but that price is a bit high.
