Fucking Bank of America, do they still charge you like $12 a month just to keep a checking account open?
Glad I ditched them a few years ago.

I wish I could meet the person who scammed me out of $2700 and beat the fucking shit out of them. This has forced me to put up for sale two basses and a good portion of my effects. I wouldn't mind selling everything, except my stingray  Lesson learned. I hope they rot in hell.

They replied to a Kijiji ad of mine. We decided to go through paypal but it turn out the emails I was getting from "paypal" were from a fraudulent address. The buyer had me send them $2700 through Western Union to cover a bunch of fees and both the buyer and "paypal" assured me that once I did, and the verification period was over, the funds would appear in my account. I only figured this out after I sent the funds and they again asked me to send another large sum of money. I've never sold anything on Kijiji before and the emails looked legit, so I went with it and ended up losing huge. All I wanted to do was sell a bass and put the funds toward school, not into some inbred fuckwad's bank account.

Needless to say I'm beyond pissed.

I almost got nailed on a Western Union scam. The way they tried to get me was by saying that they sent too much money because some of it was supposed to go to someone they knew. So I was supposed to cash their check, then send off the extra amount to another address. Luckily for me the dude at the Western Union counter tipped me off to the scam and I was able to get the check voided at my bank. My checking account would've bounced when my bank tried to cash the fake check I was sent. The manager at the bank took one look at the check and knew it was fake.

Be way of any "buyer" who wants you to send them money. Especially if their grammar is wack. I'm pretty sure the person on the other end was not from the U.S., where I am. I was trying to sell a guitar and they weren't concerned about any guitar-specific details. They also said that they were "out of town, and a friend (the same I was supposed to send the $$$ to) would come pick up the item." It should've been a clear tip-off.

I didn't know...never used Kijiji before and I had no idea what to look for in terms of fraud. I'm doing everything I can but I think I'm pretty much screwed.

always, always, ALWAYS scroll over a link and see what it is before you click on it. i've seen some damned good fakes of eBay, LinkedIn, Paypal, AND bank e-mails. if you check the links you'll find that they go to somewhere in Romania or somewhere else with no extradition to the West. the Status Bar is your friend.

crap...i have been buying parts for a project guitar i'm putting together around a Hondo neck and a Kent body. the Kent body has a really cool chromed pickguard which i got for $1 on eBay, but the damn pickup cutouts don't fit anything. with 76x22.5mm cavities the Burns Tri-Sonics i wanted to use won't fit, nor will the P90s or Hofner mini-hums i have in the parts box. i'm pretty much going to be stuck with lipsticks or finding the original Kent PUs. well, it'll be different.

Price varies from tech to tech. Just ask them to call you before they make any repairs.
