Re: The what ever thread...
I think I change strap height every time I play.
The higher it is, certainly the more comfortable it is and the easier it is to reach chords, but I think it's only that way because I play sitting down a lot and standing up is such a drastic change that my wrists don't know what to do anymore.
I am always baffled by the people who play with their guitar below their dick and can reach fairly big chords, I just don't get how it doesn't wreck your wrists.
Is it like a percentage? The higher your guitar is, the more of a nerd you are? When you see a musician perform, before they even start do you think "Nice, only 14% nerdy, this should be a killer show."? What about lapsteels, where do they fit? Keytars? Do drummers have the same problem with stool height? There are so many things I don't know.

Re: The what ever thread...
All of this is a legitimate concern of my own that causes me to lose sleep.
I will say that when I see someone wearing their shit up high, I'm like 97% certain they are going to know how to rip. ---- conversely when I see someone scratching their balls on the upper horn of their guitar, I'm 117% certain I'm about to be sodomized by their complete lack of skills/riffs.
Then there is dudes like Slash who can pull it off somehow ... he pulls the beck up though and uses classic fingering sometimes..

For me it says there is 50% chance they can't play in tune and are drunk or overly stoned.BetterOffShred wrote: I will say that when I see someone wearing their shit up high, I'm like 97% certain they are going to know how to rip.

My drummer is 6'6" he always has his throne maxed out height wise.. I have my bass low but only for comfort, it being a Flying V takes care of non-nerdtasticnessOlin wrote:I think I change strap height every time I play.

Re: The what ever thread...
I play sitting down mostly, my guitar sits usually right around belt buckle. Any lower and yeah, it wrecks my wrists, and I play a 24" scale so I can stretch. Can't do that shit when it's low so in short my stage presence sucks. I can't get all hunched over and throw my shit around.Olin wrote:I think I change strap height every time I play.

You're all cooler than me. I play with my guitar at like John Dwyer height.
Robert Trujillo...now that is a specimen for low strap.
