Re: What are you reading?
Currently starting on The Year 2000. Since there's apparently a book by Conan O'Brian with the same name, this is the anthology of short stories/essays/whatever by science fiction authors about what things would be like in this century.
Also, I was just thinking about this novel I read when I was 16/17ish that I thought was pretty good at the time, but I can't remember the title or the author. Maybe you guys can help me out? It took place in LA in the first half of the 20th century, and the protagonist was an aspiring director. I recall there being a scene with the woman that he was friends with/interested in (I can't remember which it was) ended up taking him along to some cockfighting thing that a guy from Texas was doing at his home, and the story basically ends with LA/Hollywood basically being in a state of revolt for some reason, and the protagonist being injured (pretty seriously iirc) because he was caught up in it.
Sorry if those details aren't good enough to go on, since this was 5-6 years ago. I'd like to read it again if I can find another copy, but if y'all can't help me out with the shitty details that I provided, then it's all good.

Alastair Reynols - The Prefect.
Had read the Relevation Space series years ago, loved it, but hadn't gotten around to reading the Prefect, since it wasn't part of the main ark.
Goddamn can this man tell a story!

A) eat a dick you jerk I want to be sunbathing with sharks.
B) By rest of the Dune series you mean... all of the Dune books, or just the classic trilogy.

I think I've read four or five of them beyond the original three. I don't remember much about those.

Dude have you read the scarlet gospels??? I keep wanting to get it but everyone is like OOOOH NOOO DONT DO THAT IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE WITH SHITTINESS
Just got my copy of Scarlet Gospels! I've heard a lot of mixed reviews. One of which said it was overly homosexual based. I mean duh. Clive is gay. LOL.
I've got a few on my plate before I settle into it. The Hellbound Heart will be re-read first.
Did you dudes read The Scarlet Gospels, yet? I wanna get it, but the reviews are scaring me.

Starting Joe Abercrombie ' The Blade itself'.
I'm sure that it's right up my alley, I love Dark Fantasy. It's just that finding the balance between grittiness and Dark Induced Audience Empathy - which is why I lost interest in Game of Thrones.

Have you read Mark Lawrence's Broken Empire Trilogy? Dark and gritty but can display signs of empathy.

Reading The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy to my gf, which is a lot of fun. Only thing is, she sucks at names. We're almost done with the second book, yet she goes; "remind me, who's Arthur Dent again?".
