it would make me happy if an ILFer bought the custom guitar I backed out of.
Bro ive been eyeing it but finally decided to get on the egc list. I like the ba ferguson stuff but for a brand new (on the market at least) builder and considering where they are located (like 3 hrs from my house) their prices are way too high IMHO.
Dunno, man. I definitely understand anyone that gets on the EGC list because that shit is mindblowing. But I don't know about Boot's prices. He seems to have raised them since I last talked to him, so maybe you are right.

Even though these aren't quite posh because they're all at or under $1500, I guess I'll throw 'em out here:
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/music_blog/2011/01/craft-guitars-reuben-coxs-old-style-guitar-shop-has-national-appeal.html
Reuben doesn't have much of an internet presence besides his barebones old guitarshop site (http://oldstyleguitarshop.com/) and an old website for his photography, but I know arcade fire has at least 2 guitars made by him, cat power has one, sufjan stevens, the national, and so on. I live right down the street from the shop and from just hanging out there, I've met stephen malkmus (& the jicks), james mercer (the shins), theresa wayman (warpaint).... lotsa cool people!
Never knew about that place, thanks man! I got all set to go round right now... and they're closed on Mondays. But definitely going to head over there soon.
Those are plenty posh at 1,500 or less, I mean I suppose it's all relative to what you can afford but probably 800 and up... but yeah that's a really good price for a hand made guitar these days.
Anyway, loads of great suggestions of this thread, thanks everyone. Keep them coming!
Shit dude, you are in LA even. I'd bust that dude's door down if I were in the city and just found out about him. That stuff looks reeeeeaally sweet.
How about this:
