Only on lower texture settings, the hyperion will be way more scrambled than a big muff once you go past 9'oclock on the texture.

To be honest, I don't really like the big muff that much. IMHO, the little one with tone and wicker is pretty cool, but in NO way stacks up to the hype or the Hyperion. The scrambles are awesome, but even without them, it SMOKES the Big Muff.

To get octave stuff, you're gonna want to look into the GZ, VFM, Destructo Noctavia, Never Drive, Godzilla and Rocket. There may be more ,that's just off the top of my head

Now i want a cherry pop. damn it all! I thought I was done. :(

I know man...I know.

Could be worse: Devi wise I've got nothing BUT a Cherry Pop

Is the Hyperion noisy though? That's the thing with the Aenima, even when I fiddled with it, it still has a lot of noise and it might piss off the guys I'm jamming with.

I haven't heard enough clips of the Hyperion actually, or the GZ.

The hyperion is not noisy, despite it's long sustain it's pretty silent, especially for what it does. You bought one of the top noisiest devi pedals (imo), the hyperion is pretty tame in comparison with noise. The hyperion gets crazy when you stack it with a distortion.... nice feedback. :joy: But if you or the people playing with you don't like the noise of the aenima NEVER turn on the aenima and the hyperion at the same time.

Can you take some clips of the Hyperion on some of the noisier settings?

Devi's demo pretty much shows it all...

I just like to have as many dirt options as possible for different songs, but I'm still looking for that one primary tone. I'm also open to the idea of other effects pedals that I can leave on a lot rather than just for the occasional bit where I want a flanger sweep, I still don't have any kind of auto/synth wah effect, a Vibrato/Chorus, stuff like that.

I use a Tele copy into an Ad30VT.

For getting more dirt tones, (not necesssarily finding your one signature tone), there's cheap Dano Cool Cat stuff:
(distortion) The Drive is an F*lltone OCD in disguise:

(fuzz) The Fuzz is a Frantone Peachfuzz in disguise:

Both can be had for roughly $29 so it'd be a cheap experiment to see if they have the unique dirt tone you're after. YMMV with your gear.

I dig them both, the Drive pedal can be really harsh on the treble side so I leave the treble completely off most of the time. Maybe that's what you're after, dunno.

I've got a TP as well, and when it's on, the TP is my tone. I think of it as my KISS four-knob-fuzz (Fuzzfactory, Wolf Computer, Algae Bloom, etc) because I don't really get much control out of the knobs from it, but it does that kind of modern silicon fuzz sound so well. It doesn't necessarily play with other pedals, because when you kick it on, IT IS TP TIME. I'd consider the Cool Cats less likely to takeover your signal, but they mix better with modulation and stuff. Not that they're necessarily more subtle. And the Cool Cats are definitely less awesome than Devi gear. Just my 2 cents on everything ;)

Edit: Sorry, didn't see the whole second page + discussion of Hyperions, interests in octave pedals, etc. Note: the two Dano pedals don't do any octave or oscillation glitchiness, if that's what you're after.

:idk: Roseweave asked for cheap.

I'm a gear snob and I still can appreciate a $30 metal-enclosure true-bypass pedal. Although I'm still torn over feelings of a corporation ripping off boutique pedal designs. Technically most boutique pedal designs (how many 'boutique' tubescreamers and fuzzfaces are there?) ripped off corporations and put a big markup on them in a price range where mass-manufactured corporations' pedals couldn't sell, so it's sort of full circle.

It has more to do with political/moral views...but yea if ya want cheaps you can't beat dano.
I think the drive is more of a voodoo OD clone (which the ocd also is a clone of) which is why they are often mentioned together.

I think the OP would dig a hype...can get crazy when you need it to, but can be pulled in when needed.

The Transparent OD might be a good idea, but I'd like to hear more clips. A TOD/Hype combo could be sweet.

I dunno about the whole copying thing, for example the TOD is a Timmy clone but has different controls and less gain options AFAIK. I don't think it's a terrible thing that these general sounds are made available - you're still not getting the exact pedal. For me a pedal is kind of like a toy anyway.

I would be pissed if they did it to Devi though since she actually makes a good effort to get unique and sometimes very versatile pedals to people for under a hundred bucks, and gives us a trading forum if we can't even afford that.
