Yeah, no sense of history except to steal other people's circuits. John Hornby Skewes, FTW.

Yes, this is a very important fact I forgot about.

"I want to insure you that all of my hand-built designs are original as well as unique."
...BULLSHIT. Some of the marketing mumbo jumbo even seems ripped from the originals! Originals that are still in production

There's also been liberty taken w/r/t copyright infringement of trademarked logos/characters; with the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets logo/mascot and Charlie Brown.

That one's a straight copy of the MI Audio Crunch box which was of course based on the Guv'nor with a different tone stack.

I have no issues with cloning as long as it's done transparently and you're not stepping on the toes of other small businesses. Walrus Audio cloning the Klon and RAT is fine by me, but cloning the Tim, that is a little patchy for me. JHS cater to the P&W crowd, and they seem to care little about the morals that others have, ironically. To each their own, of course, but it is important people who are new to the pedal world understand what they're getting themselves into. Not like they'll die in hell because they bought a cloned pedal from JHS, but maybe they'd feel a little pissed if they found out later on.

The only pedal from JHS that ever interested me was their Panther delay, but it's basically their take on a DMMTT.

Yes, it's utterly ridiculous :whoa:
So many of those insufferable, sanctimonious types only care about stuff that hits close to home.
Then they're quick to get offended, quicker to act as knee-jerk apologists for the sins of free enterprise, quickest to wag fingers about morality involving personal/private business.

From the 1872 classic "The Martyrdom of Man" by Winwood Reade:

"The current religion is indirectly adverse to morals, because it is adverse to the freedom of the intellect. But it is also directly adverse to morals by inventing spurious and bastard virtues. One fact must be familiar to all those who have any experience of human nature - a sincerely religious man is often an exceedingly bad man. Piety and vice frequently live together in the same dwelling, occupying different chambers, but remaining always on the most amicable terms.
Nor is there anything remarkable in this. Religion is merely loyalty: it is just as irrational to expect a man to be virtuous because he goes to church, as it would be to expect him to be virtuous because he went to court. His king, it is true, forbids immorality and fraud. But the chief virtues required are of the lickspittle denomination - what is called “a humble and a contrite heart.” When a Christian sins as a man, he makes compensation as a courtier. When he has injured a fellow creature, he goes to church with more regularity, he offers up more prayers, he reads a great number of chapters in the Bible, and so he believes that he has cleared off the sins that are laid to his account. This, then, is the immorality of religion as it now exists. It creates artificial virtues and sets them off against actual vices."

Their presence is even worse here in Kansas City. Craigslist is littered with used JHS pedals. Even if I wanted one, they are very overpriced. I guess I'm not the target audience, because I find their aesthetics awful. The only time I've seen their handiwork up close, it was when they butchered a pedal of mine. I lent a friend my Distortion+ clone that was made entirely with NOS components. It was a lovely piece. Anyways, his bass player broke the LED on it and instead of bringing it back to me, they took it to JHS. JHS replaced the LED. They also replaced like half of the internal components. It was poorly soldered and sounded like shit. I've been anti-JHS ever since.
