I read your descriptions, so is the great wall and algal but with x2 the fuzz and a bass switch?

No, I'm just trying to compare them gain-wise, using expressions like "gained up from the Algal Bloom" just as as reference point.
I need to get better at describing and differentiating without confusing people! haha.
The Great Wall doesn't function like the Algal Bloom...first, instead of a gain circuit, there's another fuzz circuit--two cascading fuzz stages that are different even from each other, four diodes (si+ge), a tone circuit...
Also, the switch on the Great Wall is a tone-bypass switch for bypassing the tone control.
The bass switch was added as a custom option by metalmariachi. It's cool, especially for bassists, but I've heard from a trusted Great Wall user (who has lots of pedals) that the standard GW is the only pedal he has that can put out as much bass as his D*A*M Ram Head.
So I don't want to up the price of
every GW to add the bass toggle, when it's already beastly enough for most people in the bass department.

How noisy with single coil pups does this tend to be?

I personally only recommend it for hum-canceling pickups. I run it with single-coil p-90s, but only in hum-canceling mode. It doesn't scream or anything with single coils, just noise when you're not playing.
Maybe someone else can chime in...

hmmm...My main guitar has Lollar Blonde single coil strat pickups with pretty low output.
