Yeah, seriously. He was always one of those guys like Keith Richards, Ozzy or Lemmy for me. You just can't imagine them not being alive anymore.

Bowie was the first artist I really got into.

My dad was a huge fan of his and has told me numerous times that I would sit dead still and just listen to his albums from start to finish whenever he would put them on.

Ziggy Stardust was my first album.

'Starman' was the first song lyrics I memorised.

'Little Wonder' was the first noisy song I heard and loved.

The news hit close to home. Rest in peace.

Bowie was an important part of my musical upbringing, singlehandedly showing me that "pop" music could be so much more than commercialized bullshit. Well, not that you could easily put a genre tag on the dude's output. This is sad news to wake up to, glad he was able to record a final album and apparently died surrounded by those who mattered to him.

This is not good. First Lou, now David; it is only matter of time before Iggy goes. The real day the music died.

I was lucky enough to have seen the debut of the 'David Bowie IS' exhibit when it started in Toronto at the AGO. There was a lot to enjoy, but my favourite moment was when I found myself face to face, sans any protective glass or rails, with this suit:

it was a very surreal moment, standing close enough to see the stitching on the bottom edges of the jacket worn out, and just getting that total sense of confirmation I guess, that it had happened and here was proof. Really cherished memory.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I love Bowie!! I even make a song for my sister based on Bowie which I'll never show to the public because it's hilariousy inappropriate and makes me look like an idiot. :( Sad face. This sucks.

I woke up with this song in my head this morning. As in I woke and thought, "Do you use your telescopic nipples to transmit data back to earth?"

Then I checked something on my phone and was like wtf.

For the record, I think that almost constantly.

fuck, lemmy now bowie.
I couldn't sleep either. which is normal these days but strange I woke up to this.
been drinking and getting high listening to all his stuff.
such a brilliant artist that took every chance he could.
if anything, they're released of this tormented place and shown us a path.
and forever changed this place for the better.
not a lot of people do that in this life.
brave and twisted caring soul is finally on to the next big thing.
but fuck cancer. HARD.
