We're not looking forward to the kids' schools shutting down for an indefinite amount of time. They always freak the fuck out with idle time around the house.
We've got lots of stuff in the freezer but if the power goes out, we're pretty screwed.
I know how to grow and pickle things but, living in New England, if the supply chain is seriously disrupted for a long time, we're screwed.
If it all goes seriously to shit, we'll have to throw ourselves on the mercy of strangers. If those strangers are the ones causing the shit, and we're on the shit list, we're going in the ovens.

See this is why I don't plan to survive in a post apocalypse world

Not that I'm too worried, but the local supply of surgical masks have been sold out (outbreak paranoia hath begun), but I am planning on stocking up on dry goods this weekend just in case (can't forget about the doomsday peppers, either).
RIP the Quizno's pepper bar

My coworker is a survivalist/militia guy. He hoards dehydrated food and bottled water for the collapse of society alongside guns, class 4 body armor, and a distrust for anyone from Asia (yes, the whole continent).
I don't know how important all of those things are but they seem to work for him. He also has a fortified compound though.

He could probably skimp on the xenophobia, but the rest seems OK.

For a second I was wondering "what could he possibly have against John Wetton and Steve Howe?"

Build indoor pool. Stock up on wine. Brag about it on social media with influencers. When the fall happens, trade entrance for supplies, then Fyre Fest that local. Oh, probably hire Marshmello.
Seriously, I ain't worried. If things happen, I'm at my best shootin' from the hip. I'll figure it out. I have enough stupid random skills. Shit happens. Either it will work out or it won't. Rather die quick and trying than hiding and playing solitaire. Just have a good knife (like legit steel, not stainless. Make one from a good file or vintage chisel if you have to) and some good basic tools and I think you'd be good enough. Water purifier too. Kind of stuff you should have anyway (I guess CA is different because of earthquakes so we have a bit of stuff around always).
My uncle used to bury guns in his back yard (in sealed PVC pipe. Think he even vaccum sealed them) for the civil war when California breaks into three. It never happened. Known enough of those types over the years. It's a waste of time, brainpower, money, etc.
Sunblock though. Stock up on that. Medicines you can get from vets, pet stores, and aquariums.

Meh, pandemics are overrated - ebola, SARS, and MERS have all come and gone without crashing civilization. But the good 'ol boys are hoping for the worst, of course, so they can live out their post-apocalyptic law-of-the-jungle fantasies in which they and their heavily-armed loved ones get to be benevolent dictators and set up their own little territories to rule over. Personally, I have faith in First World sanitary practices and medical infrastructure. We're not going anywhere.
But just in case, I plan to retreat to a country estate to watch apples fall and write a book containing stupendous seminal knowledge which I will keep entirely to myself, even after the bio-holocaust has passed, until someone else independently publishes the same knowledge and then I will accuse them of plagiarism and grind them beneath my heel. I will also merrily hang counterfeiters.

To me the biggest problem would be to live without cheesem and you can't even store it anywhere for more than a handful of weeks!

Nursery schools heare are closed since the 24th and will be closed for sure at least until the end of the week, daughter is at home and the logistic implications of going to work and finding someone to take care of her have already been a real PITA (in fact i am writing here right now becuse i had to take a day off work becuse of this very reason - now she's sleeping), i don't want to imagine how're we going to deal with everything (not just schools) if this situation lasts longer than a couple of weeks.
Back OT:
Considering the general panic that happened last week here (i’m near the area where mostcases were initially detected), i can assume that the only thing that could help me survive if anything serious ever happens is me being calm.
Maybe I’m just too relaxed, but in situations like this people freak out and panic without evencounting to 10 (a fitting example: Last Sunday people literally hoarded thesupermarkets – which is like, the dumbest thing ever: “there’s an infection, where do we go? Uh yeah, in a place crammed with other 10000 unknown people touching the same things and breathing the same limited amount of air, what could gowrong?”).
Anyway, besides being calm and being able to cultivate some fruits and vegetables I don’thave many practical skills, so I’d probably end up eaten alive by corona-zombies

Actually, from looking at the numbers, this one might not be overrated. This is getting genuinely worrisome.
