the modern mid-price Guilds seem to be terrific guitars. i have an Aristocrat and a Jetstar both of which are great. if i was going to buy an electric 12-string or a semi-hollow bass they'd be first on the list, and i have the hots to test the Surfliner as well. i would adore a Starfire bass, but i just don't play enough bass to justify a third bass. and the Thayil signature Polara looks deadly.

Can't decide on a case:

or

https://www.musik-produktiv.de/guild-de ... id=1&pid=1

They seem to be the same case in different colours (and prices).

be absolutely certain that a case is long enough for that huge, long headstock to fit. a regular semi-hollow case may not work.

Both cases have an inner length of about 112cm. The guitar is 110cm long. The Starfire IV 12 string even has the same case included. So, yes, it'll fit.

I want to start a project around this instrument. I got it on CL, and there's almost no information about the builder (Albie Bruno) online but he may have passed away before finishing this as it has some rough edges and other signs that the finishing touches weren't complete. I sent it to a luthier friend who gave it more finesse and removed the 12th-fret Decepticon inlay because it was cheezy AF, but he didn't have time to remove the paint job so I might sand it down or just cover it with stickers. Transformers are cool I guess but I'm not starting a Transformers cover band, even if I do got the touch and the power. But yeah this thing has epic wizard vibes, like something Mike Scheidt would play, and I want to give it a life worthy of the cut of its jib.

Oh yes, definitely epic wizard vibes. What a cool guitar, congrats. I love the headstock! Is the transformer logo painted on the guitar?

Yeah the headstock really clinched it for me. Yes the logo is painted on but should sand off easily as it's a thin coat. I wish I knew the backstory but the guy I got it from didn't know much.

I finally got a case for the Guild and I can't wait to bring it to band practice! :joy:

Can we post some videos of awesome 12-string players?

Nice!
Side note I’m building a Frankenstein bajo sexto, I’ll post one I’m bit more along

12 strangers? Outside of overly obvious peeps I can’t bring many electric players to mind for some reason.. let’s see…

Warning bajo sexto content :)*

i was listening to one of the local classic rock stations the other day and noticed that the riff in "Livin' Lovin' Maid (She's Just A Woman)" is quite obviously played on electric 12-string, probably the Danelectro he used to play in Zep.

I thought the famous Dano was a six. I know there was a Fender XII for the fourth album, but for II it might have been a Vox Phantom XII.

Some electric 12 sneaks in on harder Zeppelin stuff. When the Levee Breaks is particular in one of the treble courses being tuned at a fifth (IIRC) rather than an octave. Trying to remember all of the peculiarities on that one besides the varispeed playback.
