I've been on this forum every single day (as far as I can recall) for the last 5 years. It's a big part of my daily life. A break from the strain and stress of everyday life. Some of you I talk to on WhatsApp every single day and I consider you among my bestest of friends. The forum has its ups and downs in terms of quality posts and posters, and periods of toxic drama, but I love this place. Idk, that's all I've got.

I usually am a little taciturn around here, self editing, but I’m a fucking chatterbox today. Wonder if this thread is influencing that.

Btw, I am totally floored by the deep and meaningful self reflection on whether we can be better. Yes, we can, because as is being shown, the folks here are cool people who are willing to do a bit of work to be cooler still.

I have also never been a fan of all the boner stuff. For the record. Not that I hate anyone who does it or think it's malicious in any way. It's just a conversational aesthetic that I don't like and that can appear off putting and exclusionary. I don't believe it actually flows through into misogyny in the forum (most of the time) (at least now there are no porn threads etc) unlike in some other corners of the guitar forum internet.

Which isn't the same as never making dick jokes, right? They just gotta be funny.

Plus I don't to grow up man. Getting old sucks.

though i did try at certain points, i'm rather proud of making it to 62 without becoming one of those oldsters with the just-acceptably-long-enough hair, the polo shirts, and the white trainers. or the wife, college dues, and (foreclosed in my case = over) mortgage. i may be less well off, but i'm the only person in my rough age bracket who's free to bugger off to a concert in Brooklyn if i care to without static on the Home Front. i'm as free as you can be for someone inescapably tied to late-stage capitalism.

I miss being able to just up and drive to DC after work, simply because my friend saw that a band was playing and we decided to go on a whim.

I don't think we ever had any real porn threads here did we? I know the TB thread got a little bad for about 20 or more pages with naked women at one point. Not real sure how that happened there....

Ehhh kind of? They are pretty weird about what they allow and what they don't aren't they? Porn or nudes, no go ever. Hot singer babe threads (literally they have made threads that have titles like that), that seems fine with TB's mods and admins. Soooooooooooo...they suck. Seriously though. Fuck TB.

It's a good source of information, but outside of 5 or 6 boards it's boomer central.

I only end up at TB when Google takes me there looking for information. Which's how I ended up here. Here has much more useful info to me though.
