(And a memorial thought for Teresa Taylor aka Teresa Nervosa and her neurologically induced departure from the Butthole Surfers. What had she said to the doc, “Yeah, I’ve been strobed.”?

in my experience light-controlled devices haven’t worked particularly well. i’d certainly be curious to hear a demo, but i don’t expect that they’re sending out demo units.

Our ol’ buddy Dirge mentioned having tested it in their shop on the announcement post on IG. Might have details to share.

Today they posted a video about the 12 Stage Phaser clone: https://youtu.be/j07Zo9gqF3Q?si=aNyVn_iElexfnTyM

So far so unexpected but while the MURF clone looks very close to Moog's original design, the control layout on the phaser is very different. I didn't find any indications that Moog has sued Behringer but is it maybe because of the Klon lawsuit? Their prototype teasers from a few years ago were super close to the originals:

InMusic owns both Behringer and Moog now, so they can do whatever they want.

I don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, making these classic pedals available in general and at a much lower price point is cool. On the other hand, I feel like fucking around with Moog’s designs is kind of gross.

I had this feeling that Moog was the real deal when I was getting into effects and synths; Bob Moog was an actual genius-level dude and the fact that his company was employee owned and kind of “old school” in how it operated always made me consider their stuff to be “legit”.

I had one of the phasers for many years and really enjoyed it- I played it every time I played guitar, and I came to revere it as one of the very best pedals out there.

The thought of having a cheap copy is…weird. It doesn’t stop me from buying the real thing for too much money…but it still feels kind of gross, idk.

InMusic (Akai, Alesis, M-Audio, and a bunch more) and Music Tribe, Behringer’s parent co, are still different things last I knew.

You’re right I’m dumb. I always mix up those two companies.

Is the Kilter V2 the sexiest utility pedal ever made? :snax:

I've never played the Leccy stuff, but I'd certainly like to experiment with these. You could do so many intriguing things with a Kilter (if you're into modulation, stereo ramping, evolving timbral and textural shifts).

Did anyone ever pick up any ALABS pedals? Some of the designers split off and formed Klowra. (think I shared the prototypes in the spring, after a trade show appearance)

Anyway, they've added more features (extra pot + expression). There's also USB now, so you can update the firmware. I was intrigued by the delay, and if they're going to let you update your algos over time, then these really become intriguing for $100-150.

The YT demo folks had been doing the Alabs stuff a while back and they did sound legit pretty good.

BOSS shrunk the RT-20 into the RT-2. (going from 4 modes to 3 at $240 USD retail)

I had always wanted to try one of those. It's good to see they kept it drug-friendly with the LED light show. :trippy:
