Re: Electrical Guitar Company Guitars
Schnikes- I'm actually not sure what the finish is. It's really thick, so that makes me think that it is poly. I honestly thought the guitar was metal bodied until I opened it up haha. But it makes sense. The weight of it makes sense now. It's awesome though. Stays a little warmer than the white one, so I don't need to keep my hands on it as much as my white one.
Its a tough call on the necks though. I love them both. Polished seems just a tad faster but that's just in my head, I know it is. The neck on the yellow one, even though it is so similar to the white one, the polished neck and powdered fretboard just seem to take it to a different level. Like I feel like my white EGC is a machine, this one is like a Cadillac.
As far as resale, I think resale is a lot better than it was previously from what I have seen. I mean, I'm only judging on past prices vs new prices- it seems like once the price of new went up, resale value on used also rose. I used to see them go for like $1500-$1800, but I paid a little over $2k for my white one, and $2300 for the yellow one. Which seems like a deal compared to about or over $3k now.

Re: Electrical Guitar Company Guitars
That rules you found two with similar neck profiles. I def prefer the thicker neck to the standard thin profile.
I went with a Bigsby. It's awesome!

phantasmagorovich wrote:How come there are so few EGC's with tremolo? I've been thinking that a whammy bar combined with the properties of an aluminum neck would be sick, but there is rarely an EGC seen with one. Obviously you can't make the whole construction with the strings going through the same piece of aluminum at the bridge if you use f.ex. a Bigsby, but would that really be such a difference?

Yeah I am too. It's funny because I thought it had the thin profile when I bought it, but was happily surprised with the thicker profile

There are some terrific guitars in this thread, its gotta be the most comprehensive EGC thread I've found in all my internet searching. I'm in my 3rd week of 2-3 weeks to be shipped. According to his recent facebook post there's a bunch of guitars shipping this week so I'm hopeful!

Re: Electrical Guitar Company Guitars
I ordered an all aluminum strat-style thats pretty much equal parts Robbie Robertson of The Band's bronze strat and a Les Paul Custom. I went for the thick neck, block inlays, three humbuckers, bronze powdercoat and black pickguard. Should be cool. I was happy to read your above post about the polished neck, I went with that but had a panic moment recently that I should have gone brushed.

Sounds cool man, excited to see it.
And I think both finishes are cool. Definitely different but cool.
My wedding band has scratched all over the one side of the unpolished neck from playing
But if I ever wanted it back to looking nice I could always buff it out

Yeah I read somewhere you can use steel wool to take down the polished as well so I've got that going for me. I typically like high gloss neck finishes so I think I'll be fine.
And I'll absolutely be posting NGD pics. I stumbled onto ILF by searching for any info I could find about EGC anyways so its only right.

You're welcome to explore! ILF is a lot more than this thread.

As much as many of us love EGC and the EGC porn... you should definitely explore the rest of ILF. Despite our general penchant of FUZZ we also like other things.
Like delay and reverb and harsh noise and black metal and power pop and all kinds of stuff. Cool people. Cool builders. Lots of info on all kinds of stuff.

I really, really, really miss my EGC. My PRS cu24 is kind of what i've been looking for though.
